Exterior Design
The Volkswagen ID.6 X adopts Volkswagen’s new family-style design language for its ID. series electric vehicles, inheriting rigorous German craftsmanship while integrating minimalist, futuristic and elegant elements that fit its positioning as a mid-size pure electric SUV. It features a sleek and integrated closed front fascia with an innovative “Dazzling Star Sky Aesthetics” design, paired with an integrated IQ.Light intelligent matrix LED headlight system and a luminous Volkswagen logo, which is seamlessly connected with a narrow through-type LED light strip, creating a sophisticated and technological visual effect. The distinctive linear daytime running lights and symmetrical IQ.Light LED through-type parallel streamer taillights with a high-mounted rear spoiler further highlight its unique identity. The side of the body adopts a spacious and graceful SUV silhouette with smooth through-type waistlines, paired with semi-hidden door handles, black wheel arches and 20-inch two-tone sporty alloy wheels, highlighting its stable and dynamic posture, while the front and rear black surround kits further enhance its tough temperament. The body is available in three color options: Crystal White, Deep Black, and Aurora Blue.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,876 mm in length, 1,848 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,965 mm. Benefiting from the short front and rear overhang design of the MEB platform and the extended wheelbase, the interior legroom and headroom are extremely spacious despite its large body, and the overall interior space is generous and comfortable, perfectly meeting the needs of family travel and long-distance commuting. It offers flexible 6-seat and 7-seat configurations, and the rear seats feature a 50/50 split-folding design, which not only improves the flexibility of storage and seating but also expands the trunk space significantly, easily accommodating items such as luggage, camping equipment and strollers for travel or daily use.
Interior Design
The Volkswagen ID.6 X is equipped with a 5.3-inch i-ID digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch floating central touchscreen, forming a seamless connected cockpit powered by the latest ID.S 5.0 intelligent cockpit operating system, delivering an outstanding visual experience and smooth operation. It also features an AR-HUD augmented reality head-up display that projects driving information and navigation onto the windshield for easy viewing. Interior color schemes include All Black, Black with Beige, and black with gray stitching, catering to different personalized and usage scenarios. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, cruise control, and keyless entry/start, among other practical functions. The higher-spec version adds Level 2 driver-assistance systems, active braking, a 360-degree panoramic camera, a panoramic sunroof or full-view sky screen, front and rear seat heating, as well as a high-quality in-vehicle sound system for an enhanced audio experience.
The interior adopts high-quality materials, with a reasonable combination of soft wrapping and fine plastic parts, paired with exquisite stitching craftsmanship and metal decorative strips, enhancing the sense of comfort and technology. It adopts a column-mounted electronic knob shifter design unique to the ID. series, which frees up the central channel space and adds a wireless phone charging panel and practical storage grids. The center console follows the driver-centric ergonomic design, with a combination of touch buttons and physical knobs for air conditioning and audio, facilitating blind operation during driving. The interior is equipped with multiple practical storage spaces, including a large-capacity armrest box, a storage grid in front of the gearshift, and door panels that can hold large water bottles, bringing great convenience to daily use. The seats are made of high-grade artificial leather, with comfortable padding and sufficient support, and the second-row seats can be moved forward and backward and adjust the backrest angle, effectively reducing passenger fatigue during long trips.
Powertrain
The Volkswagen ID.6 X is based on the MEB pure electric platform and offers three powertrain options to meet different driving needs. The first option is a rear-mounted single motor with a maximum power output of 132 kW and peak torque of 310 Nm, equipped with a 63.2 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated range of up to 460 km. The second option is also a rear-mounted single motor with a maximum power of 150 kW and peak torque of 310 Nm, paired with an 83.4 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of around 8.7 seconds and a CLTC-rated range of up to 617 km. The third option is front-rear dual motors with a combined maximum power of 230 kW and peak torque of 472 Nm, equipped with an 83.4 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of around 6.6 seconds and a CLTC-rated range of up to 540 km. In fast-charging mode, it takes approximately 40 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.
The powertrain adopts mature electric vehicle technologies such as high-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors and advanced battery management systems, which not only improve power response but also enhance energy efficiency and battery durability. The transmission system features smooth power output and high transmission efficiency, and the energy recovery system can effectively extend the cruising range. The chassis adopts a front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension with professional German tuning, ensuring precise steering and stable driving. The vehicle is also equipped with an electric four-wheel drive system in dual-motor versions, which can automatically distribute front and rear wheel torque, providing a comfortable, energy-efficient and stable driving experience for users in various road conditions.
