Exterior Design
The BYD Seagull adopts the brand’s distinctive “Ocean Aesthetics” design language, as a compact pure electric model under BYD’s Ocean Series, which perfectly integrates the dynamic elements of seagulls into the overall design, consistent with the brand’s new energy design concept and the youthful positioning of the model. It features a sharp and dynamic front fascia with a rounded closed grille inlaid with the new BYD logo, matched with a trapezoidal air intake at the bottom and streamlined front bumpers, which not only enhances the sense of fashion but also optimizes aerodynamic performance significantly. The sharp integrated LED headlights, known as “Ice-Breaking Eyes”, are paired with unique double vertical strip daytime running lights, and the rear is equipped with a stylish through-type LED taillight with 3D three-dimensional ice crystal gradient texture, which is highly recognizable and shows a strong sense of technology when lit. The rear is also fitted with a small rear spoiler and a black decorative bumper, which echoes the front design and further highlights its lively and dynamic charm as a small pure electric car. The body is available in multiple solid-color options: Sprout Green, Midnight Black, Peach Pink, and Warm Sun White, catering to the aesthetic needs of young users and female users, and highlighting the personalized positioning of the model. In addition, its side profile has a smooth and streamlined silhouette like a gliding seagull, decorated with dynamic “Seagull Wing” waistlines, matched with 15-inch ice crystal-cut wheels, blackened door frames and hidden door handles, creating a refined and sporty visual effect.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 3,780 mm in length, 1,715 mm in width, and 1,540 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. As a 5-door 4-seat small hatchback, it is built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0, providing a spacious and comfortable interior space that surpasses the same level, with a 66.1% wheelbase ratio making the space more stretched. The rear seats feature an integral folding design, which can expand the trunk space to 930L after folding, meeting daily commuting, shopping and occasional travel needs, and fully reflecting its practicality as a small daily代步 car. The overall space layout is reasonable, with 18 carefully designed storage spaces, and sufficient headroom and legroom for both front and rear seats, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for all passengers, especially suitable for urban commuting and family short-distance travel.
Interior Design
The BYD Seagull is equipped with a 7-inch combined instrument cluster and a standard 10.1-inch adaptive rotating floating central touchscreen, which is equipped with the latest DiLink intelligent network connection system, delivering a convenient and smooth visual and interactive experience. The system supports intelligent voice interaction with high recognition accuracy, and built-in a large number of APP ecosystems to meet diverse user needs; it also supports OTA remote upgrade, remote vehicle control, mobile phone NFC and Bluetooth key unlocking functions, enhancing the convenience of use significantly. The interior design is simple and fashionable, integrating marine elements and cyberpunk style, with a large area of soft wrapping materials and piano paint decorative panels, creating a warm and technological atmosphere. Interior color schemes are consistent with the body color, such as Peach Pink solid-color interior, and the whole system is upgraded to fabric ceiling which is easier to take care of, improving the practicality of the interior. The steering wheel is wrapped in high-quality leather with a comfortable touch, and the center console is equipped with a compact and exquisite shift lever, making the operation more concise and convenient. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 15-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, front and rear row through-type side air curtains, rear parking sensors, automatic air conditioning, front row Type A+C combination charging ports (Type-C port power up to 60W), and intelligent power on/off function, among other practical functions. The higher-spec models add DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, front seat heating, main driver’s seat 6-way electric adjustment, and 3.3kW VTOL external power output, further enhancing the comfort, safety and practicality of the vehicle.
Powertrain
The BYD Seagull is a pure electric vehicle exclusively equipped with a front-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, paired with a single-speed electric transmission, built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0, bringing a quiet, smooth and energy-saving driving experience, especially suitable for urban commuting. The motor has a maximum power of 55 kW and a peak torque of 135 Nm, with an official 0-50 km/h acceleration time of only 4.9 seconds, ensuring a brisk and flexible driving experience, known as the “traffic light champion” by users. The vehicle is equipped with BYD blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of multiple capacities, offering CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 305 km and 405 km respectively, meeting the needs of users with different commuting distances. In fast-charging mode, it takes approximately 23 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and AC normal charging is also supported, effectively solving the anxiety of daily travel and short-distance trips, and the annual electricity cost is as low as 600 yuan, with excellent economic performance. In addition, the vehicle adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear torsion beam non-independent suspension, carefully tuned to bring a superior riding texture, with a 4.9-meter turning radius, making it flexible to pass through narrow streets in urban areas, suitable for female drivers and novice drivers.
