The Leopard 8 is an SUV model from BYD’s sub-brand, Fangchengbao, positioned as a mid-to-large-sized intelligent rugged SUV. In terms of powertrain, the Leopard 8 is built on BYD’s DMo Super Hybrid Off-Road Platform, features a unibody structure, and is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system comprising a high-output 2.0T engine and dual front and rear electric motors. The system delivers a combined power output of 550 kW and torque of 760 N· The vehicle offers a pure electric range of 100 kilometers under WLTC conditions and is equipped with the YunNian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system and Huawei’s QianKun ADS 3.0 intelligent driving system.

Exterior Design

The Fangchengbao Bao 8 is a full-size plug-in hybrid hardcore SUV, equipped with a square front grille and full LED headlight groups. The vehicle is fitted with vertical LED taillight groups and off-road style rear bumper trim. Multiple body color options are available. The vehicle adopts 20-inch and 21-inch wheel configurations for different versions. Partial versions are fitted with roof-mounted lidar sensors and conventional door handles. A panoramic sunroof is equipped as standard.
The vehicle provides 5-door 5-seater, 5-door 6-seater and 5-door 7-seater layouts. The body dimensions are 5195 mm in length, 1994 mm in width and 1875 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2920 mm. Electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and electric tailgate are standard configurations.

Interior Design

The vehicle is equipped with a full LCD digital instrument cluster, 17.3-inch central control touchscreen and passenger entertainment screen. Multiple interior color schemes are available, matched with NAPPA leather upholstery and metallic decorative trim. The vehicle supports multi-color ambient lighting and four-zone automatic constant temperature air conditioning. An electronic gear shift lever is equipped as standard.
Standard configurations include front, side and curtain airbags, front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera and constant-speed cruise control. Keyless entry and one-key start functions are standard. High-spec versions are equipped with 360-degree panoramic camera system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and active braking system. The vehicle supports wireless phone charging, vehicle-mounted loudspeaker system and OTA upgrade functions.

Powertrain

The Fangchengbao Bao 8 is equipped with a 2.0T inline four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine and dual permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, matched with E-CVT transmission and four-wheel drive layout. The engine delivers a maximum power of 180 kW. The front motor has a maximum power of 200 kW, and the rear motor has a maximum power of 300 kW. The system comprehensive maximum power is 550 kW with a peak torque of 760 Nm. The electronically limited top speed is 180 km/h.
The vehicle is equipped with a 46.704 kWh blade lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The CLTC pure electric cruising range is 200 km, and the CLTC comprehensive cruising range is 1380 km. The vehicle supports DC fast charging and AC slow charging functions. The vehicle is equipped with energy recovery system and intelligent body control system.
