Exterior Design

The BYD Tang L DM adopts the brand’s new “Loong Face” design language, which perfectly integrates the profound heritage of Eastern culture with the fashion trend of modern automotive design, creating a highly recognizable exterior shape[7]. Its front fascia features a split-headlight design, with the upper through-type LED daytime running lights resembling vivid dragon beards, echoing the headlight group in the lower L-shaped air deflector, which looks like a giant dragon opening its sharp eyes when lit. The active air intake grille adopts a folding fan shape, adding a touch of Eastern elegance while automatically adjusting according to vehicle working conditions to optimize aerodynamic performance. A laser radar is mounted on the top of the front, like a “wisdom eye”, demonstrating its leading position in the field of intelligent driving.
On the rear, it is equipped with a widened high-mounted spoiler with a racing-style brake light in the middle, which not only enhances the sporty appearance but also provides additional downforce during high-speed driving to ensure driving stability. The new “Bamboo Rhyme” through-type taillights are inspired by traditional bamboo weaving craftsmanship, with unique internal weaving structures and Chinese knot shapes, showing a unique beauty when lit[7]. The body is available in a variety of color options, including Deep Sea Blue, Snow White, and Aurora Silver, catering to different aesthetic needs of users.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,040 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm[9]. The 5-door 7-seat SUV body structure, combined with the optimized interior space design, provides ample headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. The third row seats can be fully folded flat, and the maximum trunk volume can be expanded to 1,960L, with a rare 136L front trunk in the same class, greatly improving the flexibility of storage and seating.

Interior Design

The BYD Tang L DM integrates traditional Eastern aesthetics with modern technology in its interior design. The center console is inspired by the gable roof of ancient Chinese architecture, paired with 3D bamboo and wood decorative panels, double-layer interactive ambient lights, creating a cockpit environment with both cultural heritage and a sense of luxury[7]. It is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen, and an AR-HUD head-up display, forming a digital interactive core that delivers an outstanding visual and operational experience.
Interior color schemes include Rosy Cloud Red, Yunjin Gray, and Black, catering to personalized preferences and creating different atmospheric styles for the cockpit. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 20-inch low-drag wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, cruise control, and a 6kW external power output function, among other practical functions. The higher-spec flagship version adds Level 2+ driver-assistance systems (DiPilot 300), active braking, a 360-degree camera system, as well as practical configurations such as an on-board cold and warm refrigerator, a 21-speaker audio system, and a fragrance system to further enhance the comfort experience.
The seats adopt a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout, with the front and second rows equipped with ventilation, heating, and SPA-level massage functions, and the second row of independent seats is equipped with electric leg rests and aviation headrests, providing a comfortable riding experience for passengers of all seats. It is also equipped with the DiLink 150 intelligent cockpit system, supporting 5G network, full-scene voice interaction, and DeepSeek R1 large-model AI assistant, making the driving process more convenient and intelligent.

Powertrain

The BYD Tang L DM is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5T turbocharged engine and permanent magnet synchronous motors, paired with an E-CVT continuously variable transmission. The 1.5T engine has a maximum power of 115 kW (156 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 225 Nm, while the total power of the motor system can reach up to 400 kW (544 horsepower) and the total torque up to 670 Nm for the four-wheel drive version. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is as fast as 4.3 seconds, and the official top speed is 200 km/h, delivering strong dynamic performance.
The vehicle comes standard with a 35.6 kWh BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate battery pack (provided by Fudi), offering a CLTC-rated pure electric range of up to 215 km, and a comprehensive range of up to 1,430 km when fully fueled and charged, effectively eliminating range anxiety. In fast-charging mode, it takes approximately 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% with a maximum fast-charging power of 71 kW, ensuring convenient and efficient energy supplementation. The vehicle also has a low fuel consumption performance, with a minimum fuel consumption of 4.9 L/100km under NEDC conditions when in low charge state, achieving both power and fuel economy.
