The Wuling Starlight S is the second model based on the Tianyu Architecture D platform and is positioned as a midsize SUV. It is Wuling’s first SUV to offer both all-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The Starlight S’s exterior design inherits the “Star Wing” aesthetic of the Starlight family, featuring a grille-less front fascia; the distinction between the plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions lies in the presence or absence of an air intake grille at the bottom of the front fascia. The vehicle features a six-ring high-strength steel body structure, with 1500 MPa aerospace-grade hot-formed steel used at 24 key locations. All models come standard with a wraparound six-airbag system.

Exterior Design

The Wuling Xingguang S PHEV, positioned as a plug-in hybrid compact SUV, adopts a sleek and modern design language that combines dynamic aesthetics with practicality, tailored for home and daily commuting needs while eliminating range anxiety. It features a rounded and streamlined body structure that prioritizes aerodynamic performance with an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.277Cd, achieved through 19 low-drag design features, effectively enhancing energy efficiency and range. The front fascia is equipped with a semi-closed grille that balances the characteristics of hybrid models, with the charging port cleverly hidden on the left rear fender to maintain the overall integrity. The front fascia is also fitted with distinctive split-type LED headlights, paired with sharp LED daytime running lights that enhance recognition, and the lower bumper is equipped with a trapezoidal air intake decorated with a dot-matrix structure, adding a sense of hierarchy. The rear is designed with smoked LED taillights with a three-dimensional internal structure, matched with a small high-mounted spoiler and a black rear bumper adorned with gray trim, enhancing the sporty and refined feel. The side body adopts a through-type waistline and a floating roof, complemented by thick black wheel arches and five-spoke three-dimensional alloy wheels, creating a dynamic and powerful stance. The body is available in multiple fashionable color options, including Starry White, Star Curtain Black, Aurora Blue and the newly added Star Curtain Black, catering to the personalized aesthetic needs of young and family users.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,680-1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, featuring a long wheelbase design that ensures excellent interior space performance. The vehicle adopts a 5-door 5-seat SUV layout, with ample headroom and legroom in the front and rear rows to meet the riding needs of passengers of different heights. The rear seats support 40/60 split-folding, which can be放倒 to expand the trunk space from 610 L to 1,768 L, fully meeting the diverse needs of daily travel, storage and outdoor activities. With a front-wheel drive layout, combined with front MacPherson independent suspension and rear double-wishbone independent suspension, it ensures stable and smooth driving, easily adapting to various urban and suburban road conditions. The vehicle is equipped with 235/55R18 tires and aluminum alloy wheels as standard, further enhancing its overall texture and driving stability.

Interior Design

The Wuling Xingguang S PHEV adopts a simple, technological and comfortable interior layout, focusing on riding comfort, operability and intelligence to meet the core needs of home travel. It is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster that clearly and intuitively displays vehicle information such as speed, power, remaining electric range, comprehensive range and energy consumption, paired with a floating central touchscreen (size varies by configuration) that supports intelligent functions such as voice interaction, mobile phone connection, OTA upgrade and the newly upgraded Lingyu AI center integrated with DeepSeek, enhancing the sense of technology and convenience. The interior adopts a two-tone color scheme, with the newly added Glow Orange interior color option, matched with soft wrapping materials and delicate stitching craftsmanship, and the seats are made of high-quality fabric or faux leather (depending on configuration), which are soft and breathable, with the second-row backrest adjustable to 127 degrees or even flat, ensuring comfortable riding experience even on long-distance trips. The cockpit layout is reasonable, with a three-spoke steering wheel with enhanced padding for a more comfortable grip, and multiple storage spaces around the driver and passengers to place mobile phones, water bottles and other small items, improving the convenience of use. The through-type air outlets and ambient lights (optional) further enhance the interior atmosphere, and the vehicle is also equipped with practical configurations such as 50W air-cooled wireless fast charging and 9 speakers.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, front and rear disc brakes, EPB electronic parking, AUTO HOLD automatic parking, ESC electronic body stability system, ABS+EBD system, tire pressure monitoring, front and rear airbags, front side airbags, side air curtains, and rear parking sensors, among other practical and safe functions. The higher-spec models add 360-degree high-definition panoramic image with transparent chassis, adaptive far and near beam, front parking radar, keyless entry, keyless start, automatic air conditioning with rear air outlets, power-adjustable driver’s seat, front and rear seat heating, and Lingmou assisted driving system that supports highway navigation assistance, parking assistance, 2-kilometer cross-floor memory parking and 100-meter trajectory reversing. The whole vehicle is equipped with practical configurations such as energy recovery system, battery heating and intelligent heat preservation, ensuring the stability of battery performance in low-temperature environments, and ISOFIX child safety seat interface to ensure driving safety. It also supports 3.3 kW external power output, meeting the needs of outdoor activities such as camping.

Powertrain

The Wuling Xingguang S PHEV is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a gasoline engine and an electric motor, offering multiple power combinations to meet different user needs. It is available with two engine options: a 1.5L naturally aspirated inline-four engine and a 1.5T turbocharged inline-four engine. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine delivers a maximum power output of 78 kW, paired with an electric motor with a maximum power of 150 kW, while the 1.5T turbocharged engine (exclusive to high-power flagship models) delivers a maximum power output of 105 kW, paired with an electric motor with a maximum power of 160 kW, both matched with an efficient electric drive system, with a maximum torque of 310 Nm and an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. The vehicle is available with two lithium iron phosphate “Shenlian Battery” options: 9.5 kWh and 20.5 kWh, offering CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 60 km and 130 km respectively, and a full fuel and full electric comprehensive range of over 1,100 km. In fast-charging mode, it takes approximately 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and it also supports AC slow charging, which takes about 6.5 hours to charge from 20% to 100% under normal temperature, meeting different charging needs of users. The official NEDC comprehensive fuel consumption under depleted conditions is as low as 3.9 L/100km, and the WLTC comprehensive fuel consumption is 4.98 L/100km, featuring excellent energy efficiency. It is also equipped with multiple driving modes including economy, standard, sport and personalized, and an energy recovery system, which can further improve energy utilization and cruising range, perfectly adapting to various travel scenarios such as urban commuting and long-distance trips.
