The Buick Velite 6 is a pure-electric MAV (Multi-Activity Vehicle) launched by SAIC-GM’s Buick brand. The 410-km long-range version was first unveiled on October 12, 2019. Developed on an all-new electric vehicle architecture, the vehicle features a MAV crossover body style with dimensions of 4,650 × 1,817 × 1,519 mm and a wheelbase of 2,660 mm. It offers more than 20 storage compartments and a trunk capacity that can be expanded to 1,098 liters.

Exterior Design

The Buick Velite 6, as Buick’s global first mass-produced pure electric model, adheres to the brand’s “Buick Blue” new energy development concept and highly restores the design of its concept car, featuring an innovative crossover MAV silhouette that integrates dynamic posture with practical space, inspired by the Chinese philosophical thought of “The Highest Good is Like Water”. It is equipped with sleek and sharp LED headlights, paired with a narrow semi-closed grille decorated with chrome trim, presenting a simple and dynamic visual effect while enhancing the recognition of the front face. The side lines are smooth and coherent, with two waistlines extending from the fenders to the rear wheels, like flowing water, creating an elegant and dynamic posture, while the lower feature lines complement each other to enhance the vehicle’s layering. The rear is equipped with stylish split taillights, matched with a small spoiler and a simple rear bumper, making the overall shape concise and lively. The body is available in five fashionable color options, catering to the personalized needs of urban young consumers and family users alike.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,650 mm in length, 1,817 mm in width, and 1,510 mm in height, with a spacious wheelbase of 2,660 mm, belonging to the compact MAV category. Benefiting from the new electric vehicle architecture and crossover body form, it maximizes the use of interior space—the large-curvature roof and integrated panoramic sunroof ensure sufficient headroom and interior lighting, while the flat rear floor (thanks to the underfloor battery layout) provides a comfortable riding experience for rear passengerssuperscript:3__. The overall body proportions are coordinated, with compact front overhangs and smooth side lines, presenting a dynamic and practical style that combines aesthetics and functionality.

Interior Design

The Buick Velite 6 features a warm and practical interior design, adopting a wrap-around floating wing layout with a floating center console and layered decorative panels, creating a comfortable and refined riding atmosphere inspired by the inclusiveness of water. It is equipped with a 10-inch independent floating central touchscreen, powered by a high-performance chip, which delivers a clear and smooth interactive experience, supports the Buick eConnect 2.0 intelligent connectivity system, featuring a new card-style interactive interface, Super ID personal account, OTA remote upgrade, virtual key and cloud-based intelligent voice interaction functions, while retaining physical buttons for convenient operation by drivers and passengerssuperscript:3__. Interior color schemes include two options, with blue tones echoing the marine environmental protection concept, matched with large-area soft materials, piano black trim, matte electroplating and simulated carbon fiber decorations treated with TOM 3D surface decoration technology, paired with suede-like skin-friendly seat materials, highlighting the premium texture and comfortsuperscript:3__. The cabin is equipped with Buick’s Quiet-tuning patented quiet technology, combined with multi-level vibration and noise reduction technology, to comprehensively optimize road noise and wind noise, creating a quiet riding environment.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 16-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and cruise control, among other practical functions, as well as Bosch ESP 9.3 electronic stability control system, TPMS intelligent tire pressure monitoring system and AUTO HOLD automatic parking system to ensure driving safety. The higher-spec models add intelligent driving assistance functions including FCA forward collision warning, CMB collision mitigation, LDW lane departure warning, SBZA side blind zone warning and APA automatic parking, further enhancing driving safety and convenience. It also features more than 20 efficient storage spaces, a 455L trunk, and the rear seats adopt a 40/60 split-folding design, which can be fully folded to be flush with the trunk floor, expanding the luggage space to a maximum of 1098L to meet the needs of daily use and outdoor scenariossuperscript:3__.

Powertrain

The Buick Velite 6 is a pure electric vehicle built on a dedicated new energy platform, equipped with a high-performance permanent magnet synchronous motor and an efficiently integrated three-electric system, adhering to Buick’s eMotion electric drive technology to provide a smooth, quiet and natural electric driving experiencesuperscript:3__. It adopts a front-mounted single motor front-wheel drive layout, with a maximum power of 85 kW and a peak torque of 255 Nm, providing stable and responsive acceleration performance that is perfectly suitable for urban commuting. The vehicle offers three driving modes (Sport, Economy, Normal) and three levels of energy recovery, allowing users to choose according to different urban working conditions and driving habits, further optimizing energy efficiency.
The vehicle is equipped with a high-performance ternary lithium battery pack produced by SAIC-GM’s Power Battery System Development Center, which has the characteristics of high performance, high safety and high durability. The standard battery pack has a capacity that supports an NEDC-rated pure electric range of 301 km, with a 100km power consumption of 13.3 kWh, meeting daily commuting needs. It supports AC slow charging, and Buick provides owners with a free brand-exclusive intelligent charging pile and free installation service; users can also remotely control charging time and check charging status through the iBuick APP, and enjoy charging services at more than 100,000 co-operated charging piles and over 800 Buick 4S stores nationwide, forming a three-in-one comprehensive charging guarantee system. The battery pack is protected by multiple safety measures to ensure safety and durability during daily use.
