The Mazda CX-50 carries forward the brand’s iconic “Kodo” design philosophy, integrating rugged off-road temperament with sleek dynamic lines that embody a perfect balance between refinement and adventure. It features a robust compact SUV silhouette with a straight and muscular hood, a slightly raised ground clearance, and sharp waistlines that run from the front fenders to the rear taillights, enhancing its powerful and sporty posture. The front fascia adopts a prominent shield-shaped grille, which is paired with more sharp and aggressive LED headlight units, and the front bumper boasts tough lines with a metal brushed trim guard, adding a touch of sophistication and off-road charm while maintaining strong family recognition. The uniquely designed air ducts on both sides of the front bumper not only optimize aerodynamic performance but also further highlight the vehicle’s rugged personality.
The rear is equipped with distinctive three-dimensional dual-strip LED taillights, which are highly recognizable when lit at night, and the chrome exhaust outlets echo the front grille, creating a cohesive visual effect. A subtle roof spoiler enhances the sporty appeal, while the heightened black wheel arch anti-scratch strips and black cladding at the bottom improve both visual stability and practicality, effectively preventing scratches during off-road driving. The body is available in multiple color options to cater to different aesthetic preferences, and some high-spec models are equipped with new multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheels and a black Mazda emblem, while the outdoor-focused Meridian Edition features exclusive design elements to highlight its off-road orientation. Additionally, it comes with practical roof rails and a power rear liftgate, balancing practicality and stylish design.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,638 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. As a compact SUV built for active lifestyles, this dimension offers ample interior space for both front and rear passengers, ensuring a comfortable riding experience. Interior Design
The Mazda CX-50 features a cockpit-centered design with a clean and layered dashboard layout, where the instrument panel and door panels are seamlessly connected to create a comfortable and immersive driving environment. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch full-color central display and a 7-inch TFT LCD instrument panel display, which clearly shows rich vehicle information and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with touch functionality. The interior is wrapped in a large number of high-grade soft materials and leather, complemented by a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel that has a comfortable grip and integrates multiple function buttons for convenient operation of cruise control and multimedia systems. The overall layout is user-friendly, with thoughtful storage spaces throughout the cabin.
Interior color schemes include elegant options such as black and the all-new white interior option, catering to personalized preferences, with some high-spec models offering black leather seats or white leather seats. The seats adopt an advanced ergonomic design with high-quality leather or half leatherette craftsmanship, providing excellent support and wrapping to reduce fatigue during long-distance driving. The driver’s seat is equipped with eight-way power adjustment and power lumbar support, while some high-spec models add heated front seats, ventilated front seats, a power six-way passenger seat, and two-position seat memory functions. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear side airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, and other practical functions. The higher-spec version adds advanced configurations such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Traffic Sign Recognition, a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system, and a power sliding panoramic moonroof, delivering a more luxurious and comfortable driving experience.
Powertrain
The Mazda CX-50 offers multiple powertrain options, including gasoline and hybrid variants, all paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission (SKYACTIV-DRIVE) that features smooth shifting and responsive performance, continuing Mazda’s “Jinba Ittai” driving DNA. The base gasoline version is equipped with a 2.5L SKYACTIV-G naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which has a displacement of 2488 cc and a high compression ratio of 13.0:1. It delivers a maximum power output of 139 kW (187 hp @ 6,000 rpm) and peak torque of 252 Nm (185 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm), with a comprehensive fuel consumption of 8.0 L/100km under comprehensive working conditions, and all models come with all-wheel drive as standard.
The high-spec gasoline version is equipped with a 2.5L SKYACTIV-G turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum power output of 190 kW (256 hp) and higher peak torque, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 6.4 seconds. The turbocharged variant unlocks a maximum towing capacity of 3500 pounds, while the standard powertrain allows for a maximum towing capacity of 2000 pounds. The hybrid variant adopts a powertrain borrowed from the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, focusing on fuel economy. Both gasoline engines adopt gasoline direct injection technology and Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS), matched with SKYACTIV-CHASSIS chassis technology, including MacPherson independent front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension, to ensure linear power output and sensitive handling, combining off-road capability with refined driving performance.
