Exterior Design
The Volvo EX30 adopts the brand’s classic Scandinavian design philosophy, inheriting elegant and restrained Nordic aesthetics while integrating modern, compact and dynamic elements that fit its positioning as a small premium pure electric SUV. It features a sleek and integrated closed shield-shaped front fascia, inlaid with the Volvo logo, paired with the iconic “Thor’s Hammer” matrix LED headlight system and compact LED headlights, where the daytime running lights are sharp and linear LED light strips, creating a fresh, agile and sophisticated visual effect. The lower grille adopts a narrow trapezoidal air intake design, with the license plate frame placed in the center, and the active air intake grille at the bottom, paired with black decorative strips on the front lip and body surround, which appropriately highlights the sporty and youthful temperament. The distinctive linear daytime running lights and symmetrical “Viking Axe” style LED taillights further highlight its unique identity, with the taillight main body in a sharp C-shape and the upper end extending along the rear edge of the roof, and the overall rear design is concise and dynamic. The side of the body adopts a compact and sleek SUV silhouette with smooth through-type waistlines, paired with pop-up hidden door handles, a slightly sloping roof line and 19-inch sporty alloy wheels, highlighting its agile and lively posture, while the black wheel arches and side skirt decorations further enhance its dynamic temperament. The body is available in three color options: Crystal White, Midnight Black, and Fjord Blue.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,233 mm in length, 1,838 mm in width, and 1,555 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Benefiting from the optimized overall layout of the pure electric platform, the interior legroom and headroom are well-designed despite its compact body, and the overall interior space is practical and comfortable, perfectly meeting the needs of daily urban commuting and small family use. The rear seats feature a 40/60 split-folding design, which not only improves the flexibility of storage and seating but also expands the trunk space significantly, easily accommodating items such as luggage, daily necessities and small outdoor gear for travel or daily use. The vehicle also has a reasonable body proportion, with a moderate A-pillar slope that ensures good visibility and maintains the integrity of the interior space.
Interior Design
The Volvo EX30 features a minimalist Nordic interior design, emphasizing environmental protection, practicality and comfort, and is equipped with a full LCD digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch floating central touchscreen, forming a seamless connected cockpit powered by the brand’s latest in-vehicle operating system, delivering an outstanding visual experience and smooth operation. It also features a HUD head-up display that projects driving information and navigation onto the windshield in an intuitive way, and is equipped with an intelligent voice assistant that supports multi-round dialogue and full-scene voice control. Interior color schemes include All Black, Gray with White stitching, and blue stitching matching, catering to different personalized and usage scenarios. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and keyless entry/start, as well as the standard CLEANZONE Nordic clean cockpit with PM2.5 sensor and automatic air purification system. The higher-spec version adds advanced driver-assistance systems, active braking, a 360-degree panoramic camera, a panoramic sunroof, front seat heating, as well as a high-quality in-vehicle sound system for an enhanced audio experience.
The interior adopts high-quality and environmentally friendly sustainable materials, with a large area of linen fiber, wool blended fabric, Nordico natural leather made from pine resin, and denim trim panels processed from recycled denim fibers on high-frequency contact areas such as the center console and door panels, integrating natural texture and sustainable concepts, and the whole vehicle has almost no peculiar smell, which is in line with Volvo’s strict requirements for in-vehicle air quality. It adopts a user-friendly ergonomic design, and the center console has open and straight lines, with a minimalist style that hides technology in simplicity. The central armrest adopts a practical integrated design, combining a cup holder and a small storage space, which is convenient for placing daily items. The interior is equipped with multiple practical storage spaces, including a large-capacity armrest box, a storage grid in front of the gearshift, and door panels that can hold water bottles, bringing great convenience to daily use. The seats are made of high-grade environmentally friendly materials, with comfortable padding and sufficient support, and the front seats are equipped with electric adjustment function in higher-spec versions, effectively reducing driving fatigue during long trips. It is also equipped with a multi-zone intelligent air conditioning system and hidden ambient lights, creating a comfortable and immersive riding atmosphere.
Powertrain
The Volvo EX30 is based on the brand’s pure electric platform and offers multiple powertrain options to meet different driving needs. The first option is a rear-mounted single motor with a maximum power output of 200 kW and peak torque of 343 Nm, equipped with a 49 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated range of up to 410 km and an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.7 seconds. The second option is also a rear-mounted single motor with the same power parameters, paired with a 66 kWh battery pack, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.3 seconds and a CLTC-rated range of up to 590 km. The third option is front-rear dual motors with a combined maximum power of 315 kW and peak torque of 543 Nm, equipped with a 66 kWh battery pack, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.6 seconds and a CLTC-rated range of up to 540 km. In fast-charging mode, it takes only 26 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
The powertrain adopts mature pure electric vehicle technologies such as high-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors and advanced battery management systems, which not only improve power response but also enhance energy efficiency and battery durability. The transmission system features smooth power output and high transmission efficiency, and the energy recovery system supports multi-level adjustment with a maximum recovery power of 120 kW, balancing comfort and range efficiency. The chassis adopts a front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension with professional Nordic tuning, which is biased towards comfortable driving and can effectively filter road bumps, ensuring precise steering and stable driving. The vehicle also has a minimum turning radius of 5.4 meters, making it easy to handle narrow road U-turns and complex parking scenarios. It also adds a variety of intelligent driving assistance functions to enhance driving safety, providing a comfortable, energy-efficient and stable driving experience for users in various road conditions.
