Exterior Design
The Yangwang U8 inherits the brand’s iconic “Time-Space Gate” design language, tailored specifically for its hard-core off-road positioning, featuring a sturdy and majestic overall posture that perfectly combines luxury and off-road performance. The front fascia is equipped with a large-sized closed grille and sharp split-type headlights, with the brand’s signature “lightning” daytime running lights that present a sense of power and technology when lit. The rear is fitted with a full-width LED taillight group and a large-size external spare tire (a hidden spare tire is available as an option), complemented by a metal rear bumper with a built-in trailer hook, highlighting its professional off-road attributes. The body is available in five color options: Kunlun Snow White, Qilian Azure, Tianshan Glacier Blue, Helan Rock Gray, and Taklamakan Sand Gold.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,319 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,930 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm. The body adopts a frame-type structure made of high-strength steel, with a maximum torsional stiffness of 35,700 N·m/deg, ensuring excellent durability and anti-torsion performance in complex off-road environments. The vehicle is also equipped with all-terrain tires, a high ground clearance of 305 mm, and approach/departure angles of 36.5° and 35.4° respectively, along with a breakover angle of 25.5°, allowing it to easily pass through rough roads, deep pits, and other harsh terrains. Additionally, the electric side steps and roof luggage rack add practicality and a sense of hierarchy to the vehicle.
Interior Design
The Yangwang U8 is equipped with a 12.8-inch OLED curved central control screen, a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch co-pilot entertainment screen, matched with a heads-up display (HUD) and a rear-seat entertainment system, forming a multi-screen interactive layout that delivers a premium visual and operational experience. The interior integrates traditional Chinese “majestic and elegant” aesthetics with modern technological sense, featuring a wrap-around cockpit design and a centrally symmetrical center console, with a large number of physical buttons retained to facilitate operation during off-road driving. Interior color schemes include Nappa Leather Black, Camel Brown, and Ivory White, meeting the needs of users for luxury and comfort.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 22-inch alloy wheels, four-piston fixed caliper brakes, air suspension with adjustable height, full-time four-wheel drive, and a 22-speaker Dynaudio Confidence Platinum audio system, among other high-end and practical functions. The interior is fully wrapped in high-grade Nappa leather and wood grain trim, with exquisite stitching and embossing craftsmanship, highlighting the luxury texture. The higher-spec Off-Road Master Edition adds front and rear differential locks, a central differential lock, and a transparent chassis, while both versions are equipped with the Yangwang Pilot L2+ level driver-assistance system, covering adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, and 360° panoramic images with off-road mode, ensuring safety in both urban and off-road scenarios. Other practical configurations include 60W wireless phone charging, 256-color ambient lighting, and multi-zone automatic air conditioning with PM2.5 filtration.
Powertrain
The Yangwang U8 is built on the e-4ORCE super hybrid platform, equipped with four permanent magnet synchronous motors (one motor per wheel) and a 2.0T turbocharged engine as a range extender, delivering a maximum combined power output of 690 kW and a peak torque of 1,400 N·m, with a maximum horsepower of 930 Ps. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, with an official top speed of 200 km/h and an acceleration time of only 3.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, achieving a perfect balance between off-road performance and power performance. The vehicle is also equipped with the industry-leading Yunjie-P intelligent four-wheel drive system, which can independently control the torque of each wheel, realizing functions such as in-situ U-turn and crab walking.
The Yangwang U8 comes standard with a 49.05 kWh BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 180 km and a comprehensive range of over 1,000 km when combined with the range extender. Based on the 800V high-voltage platform, it supports 220 kW DC fast charging, and it takes only about 18 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% in fast-charging mode. It also supports 7 kW AC slow charging, which takes 5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%, and is equipped with an intelligent thermal management system and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function with a maximum output power of 6 kW, meeting the power needs of outdoor camping, emergency rescue, and other scenarios.
