Exterior Design
The BYD Qin PLUS EV adopts the brand’s iconic “Dragon Face” design language tailored for pure electric models, a signature style of BYD’s Dynasty Series compact pure electric sedans, which perfectly integrates traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern pure electric aesthetics, highlighting its positioning as a high-quality, cost-effective compact pure electric family sedan. It features a sleek and dynamic front fascia with a closed hexagonal grille (exclusive to pure electric models), which replaces the air intake of the DM-i version, decorated with dense short chrome horizontal strips inside, and a penetrating chrome trim strip connects the LED split headlights on both sides, which not only lengthens the visual width of the front face but also enhances the sense of fashion. The center of the trim strip is inlaid with the iconic seal-script “Qin” logo, clearly indicating the identity of the model, while the four three-dimensional lines on the engine hood and the thick downward-pressed front end create a diving visual effect, injecting a strong sporty atmosphere. It is equipped with sharp integrated LED headlights with a three-dimensional and sharp shape, paired with unique dynamic daytime running lights shaped like dragon whiskers, and the rear is equipped with a stylish through-type LED taillight, matched with an upturned ducktail spoiler, which is highly recognizable and shows a strong sense of technology when lit. The rear is also fitted with a redesigned rear bumper with black decorative panels, which echoes the front design and further highlights its dynamic charm as a compact pure electric sedan. The body is available in multiple color options: Snowfield White, Jet Black, Ink Jade Blue, Mo Bamboo Green, Star River Beige, and Wei Yang Gray, as well as the new color options for 2025 models, catering to the aesthetic needs of different young and family users. In addition, its side profile is decorated with smooth and sleek lines, with chrome trim strips around the windows, and optional multi-style wheel hubs and blackened rearview mirrors, creating a layered and refined visual effect; the streamlined body design further optimizes aerodynamic performance and reduces energy consumption, which is more in line with the characteristics of pure electric vehicles.
In terms of dimensions, the 2025 model of the vehicle measures 4,795 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm, while the previous models are 4,765 mm in length, maintaining a consistent wheelbase and width. As a 4-door 5-seat compact sedan, it provides a spacious and comfortable interior space that surpasses the same level, fully meeting the needs of mainstream Chinese families. The rear seats feature a 40/60 split-folding design, which can expand the trunk space to meet daily commuting, shopping and occasional travel needs, fully reflecting its practicality as a family pure electric sedan. The overall space layout is reasonable, with sufficient headroom and legroom for both front and rear seats, and a nearly flat rear floor, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for all passengers, especially suitable for urban commuting and family short-distance travel. The front wing fender is also equipped with an exclusive chrome nameplate, further enhancing the sense of refinement, and it also has a small front trunk for storing small items, improving daily practicality.
Interior Design
The BYD Qin PLUS EV is equipped with an 8.8-inch or 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster (depending on the trim level) and a standard 12.8-inch or optional 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating central touchscreen, which is equipped with the latest DiLink 100 intelligent cockpit system (high-end version), supporting full-scenario intelligent voice interaction, mobile phone connection, microphone-free KTV, game center and other functions, delivering a convenient and smooth visual and interactive experience. The system has high recognition accuracy and fast response, and built-in a large number of APP ecosystems to meet diverse user needs; it also supports OTA remote upgrade, remote vehicle control, mobile phone NFC and Bluetooth key unlocking functions, enhancing the convenience of use significantly. The interior design is simple and practical, adopting a wrap-around cockpit design with a large area of soft wrapping materials, and a variety of interior color schemes are available, including the warm Sun Brown interior color added in the updated models, to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The center console retains the physical buttons of commonly used functions, which are designed in line with ergonomics for easy operation; the high-end models are also equipped with a high-quality sound system, bringing an excellent audio experience. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 16-inch or 17-inch wheels (215/55 R17 for 2025 models), front and rear airbags, front and rear row through-type side air curtains, rear parking sensors, 360-degree high-definition panoramic image, automatic air conditioning, and 3.3kW VTOL external power output (mobile power station function), among other practical functions. The higher-spec models (especially the 2025 intelligent driving version) add DiPilot 100 intelligent driving assistance system (Tian Shen Zhi Yan C-version), W-HUD head-up display, 50W wireless phone charging and front seat heating, further enhancing the comfort, safety and practicality of the vehicle.
Powertrain
The BYD Qin PLUS EV is a pure electric vehicle exclusively equipped with a front-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, paired with a single-speed electric transmission, built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0, bringing an extreme experience of quietness, smoothness, high efficiency and strong power. The motor has two power tunings: the high-performance version has a maximum power of 135 kW (184 Ps) and a peak torque of 280 Nm, while the standard version has a maximum power of 100 kW (136 Ps) and a peak torque of 180 Nm, with an official 0-50 km/h acceleration time of 4 seconds for the high-performance version and 5.5 seconds for the standard version, ensuring a brisk and smooth driving experience suitable for urban commuting. The vehicle is equipped with BYD blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of multiple capacities, including 47.5 kWh, 57 kWh, 57.6 kWh and 71.7 kWh, offering NEDC or CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 420 km, 510 km, 500 km and 600 km respectively, effectively solving the anxiety of long-distance travel. The long-range version supports up to 70kW DC fast charging, taking approximately 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and AC normal charging is also supported, with a 7kW AC charging time of about 8-12 hours depending on the battery capacity. The 100km power consumption is as low as 12.5 kWh, which is extremely economical and can greatly save the user’s travel costs, conforming to the current concept of energy conservation and environmental protection. In addition, the vehicle adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, carefully tuned to bring a superior riding texture, with excellent handling and comfort, and a flexible body with a minimum turning radius of 5.5m, making it suitable for both urban commuting and long-distance travel.
