Exterior Design

The BYD Song PLUS EV adopts the brand’s iconic “Dragon Face” design language tailored for pure electric models, a signature style of BYD’s Dynasty Series compact pure electric SUVs, which perfectly integrates traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern pure electric aesthetics, highlighting its positioning as a high-quality compact pure electric SUV. It features a sleek and powerful front fascia with a closed “Eight-Sided Dragon Chant” grille (exclusive to pure electric models), which replaces the air intake of hybrid versions, inlaid with the iconic seal-script “Song” logo, where the three-dimensional and dynamic “dragon whisker” trim strips extend to the headlights, creating a strong visual tension and clearly distinguishing it from fuel and DM-i versions. It is equipped with sharp integrated LED headlights with inverted “777” dragon-claw shaped light groups, paired with unique dynamic daytime running lights, and the rear is equipped with a stylish through-type LED taillight, matched with a 1011mm long skyline high-mounted brake light, which is highly recognizable and shows a strong sense of technology when lit. The rear is also fitted with a sporty high-mounted rear spoiler and a redesigned rear bumper with black decorative panels and extended reflective strips, which echoes the front design and further highlights its dynamic and tough charm as a compact pure electric SUV. The body is available in multiple color options: Snowfield White, Azure Blue, Titanium Gray, Ruby Red, and other personalized colors, while a blackened sports kit is also available, catering to the aesthetic needs of different young and family users. In addition, its side profile is decorated with smooth and dynamic “dragon sprint” waistlines, extending from the front headlights to the rear, matched with 19-inch two-color wind blade wheels (which reduce wind resistance effectively), blackened wheel arches and chrome trim strips, creating a layered and refined visual effect; the floating roof design further optimizes aerodynamic performance and adds a sense of fashion.

In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. As a 5-door 5-seat compact pure electric SUV, it provides a spacious and comfortable interior space that surpasses the same level, fully meeting the needs of mainstream Chinese families. The rear seats feature a 40/60 split-folding design, which can expand the trunk space from 574L to 1477L, meeting daily commuting, shopping and occasional travel needs, fully reflecting its practicality as a family pure electric SUV. The overall space layout is reasonable, with sufficient headroom and legroom for both front and rear seats, and a nearly flat rear floor, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for all passengers, especially suitable for urban commuting and family short-distance travel. It also has a front trunk for storing small items, further enhancing the practicality of daily use.

Interior Design

The BYD Song PLUS EV is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a standard 12.8-inch or optional 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating central touchscreen (depending on the trim level), which is equipped with the latest DiLink 100 intelligent cockpit system, supporting full-scenario intelligent voice interaction, map desktop, integrated music, ONE ID and three-finger global gesture recognition functions, delivering a convenient and smooth visual and interactive experience. The system has high recognition accuracy and fast response, and built-in a large number of APP ecosystems to meet diverse user needs; it also supports OTA remote upgrade, remote vehicle control, mobile phone NFC and Bluetooth key unlocking functions, enhancing the convenience of use significantly. The interior design is simple and luxurious, adopting a环抱式 cockpit design with a large area of soft wrapping materials, and the new energy exclusive color scheme of Eclipse Blue + Sky Gray or Xuantian Black + Sandstone Beige is available, paired with 31-color surrounding colorful ambient lights, creating a fresh, natural and technological atmosphere. The center console retains the physical buttons of commonly used functions, which are designed in line with ergonomics for easy operation; the high-end models are also equipped with a high-quality sound system, bringing an excellent audio experience. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 19-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, front and rear row through-type side air curtains, rear parking sensors, 360-degree high-definition panoramic transparent image, automatic air conditioning, 50W wireless phone charging, and 3.3kW VTOL external power output (mobile power station function), among other practical functions. The higher-spec models (especially the 2025 intelligent driving version) add DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system (including ICC, LDA, FCW, AEB and other functions), W-HUD head-up display, DMS fatigue driving monitoring, front seat heating, steering wheel heating, electric tailgate and on-board ETC, further enhancing the comfort, safety and practicality of the vehicle.

Powertrain

The BYD Song PLUS EV is a pure electric vehicle exclusively equipped with a front-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, paired with a single-speed electric transmission, built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0, bringing an extreme experience of quietness, smoothness, high efficiency and strong power. The motor has two power tunings: the standard version has a maximum power of 150 kW (204 Ps) and a peak torque of 310 Nm, while the high-performance version has a maximum power of 160 kW (218 Ps) and a peak torque of 330 Nm, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds, and the 0-50 km/h acceleration time is only 4.4 seconds, ensuring a brisk and smooth driving experience suitable for urban commuting. The vehicle is equipped with BYD blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of two capacities: 71.8 kWh and 87.04 kWh, offering CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 520 km and 605 km respectively, effectively solving the anxiety of long-distance travel. It is also equipped with a battery intelligent temperature control management system, distributed power battery management and pulse self-heating system, which can work stably in various temperature environments. In fast-charging mode, it supports a maximum 140kW DC fast charging, taking approximately 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% (the 605km version takes about 28 minutes), and AC normal charging is also supported (10.2 hours for the 520km version and 12.4 hours for the 605km version). The 100km power consumption is as low as 13.7 kWh, showing excellent energy-saving performance. In addition, the vehicle adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, carefully tuned to bring a superior riding texture, with excellent handling and comfort, and a turning radius of only 5.55m, making it flexible to pass through narrow streets in urban areas, suitable for both urban commuting and long-distance travel.
