The BYD Destroyer 05 adopts the brand’s distinctive “Ocean Aesthetics” design language, a signature style of BYD’s Ocean Network Warship Series, as the first sedan model of the series, consistent with other new energy models of the series. It features a sleek and dynamic front fascia with a borderless horizontal grille inlaid with the BYD English logo, which is matched with the front air guide and lower grille to enhance the sporty sense significantly . The sharp integrated LED headlights are naturally connected to the grille, paired with unique sharp L-shaped daytime running lights, and the rear is equipped with a stylish multi-color smoked through-type LED taillight, with the “Build Your Dream” slogan replacing the logo on the trunk lid, highlighting a strong sense of technology and extremely high recognition when lit . The rear is also fitted with a subtle rear spoiler and a trapezoidal bumper cover with a painted decorative panel, further enhancing its dynamic charm as a compact sedan . The body is available in multiple color options: Snowfield White, Azure Blue, Titanium Gray, Ruby Red, and Starry Black, catering to the aesthetic needs of different young and family users . In addition, its side profile is decorated with smooth and dynamic waistlines, extending from the front headlights to the rear, matched with sporty side surrounds, blackened door frames and 16-inch or 17-inch multi-spoke wheels, creating a refined and streamlined visual effect .

In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm . As a 4-door 5-seat compact sedan, it provides a spacious and comfortable interior space, specially built for mainstream Chinese families and young users pursuing practicality and economy . The rear seats feature a 40/60 split-folding design, which not only improves the flexibility of storage and seating but also expands the trunk space to meet daily use and occasional travel needs, fully reflecting its practicality as a family sedan . The overall space layout is reasonable, with sufficient legroom for both front and rear seats and a nearly flat rear floor, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for all passengers, though the headroom is slightly limited .

Interior Design

The BYD Destroyer 05 is equipped with an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument cluster (except for the base model) and a standard 12.8-inch rotatable floating central touchscreen, with a 15.6-inch touchscreen optional for higher-spec models, which is equipped with the latest DiLink intelligent network connection system, some high-end versions supporting 5G network, delivering a convenient and smooth visual and interactive experience . The system supports intelligent voice interaction with high recognition accuracy, and built-in a large number of APP ecosystems such as Gaode Map, Kugou Music and iQiyi to meet diverse user needs . It also supports OTA remote upgrade and remote vehicle control functions, enhancing the convenience of use . Interior color schemes adopt a simple and elegant black tone, with a large area of soft wrapping materials, piano paint decorative panels and metal texture parts, creating a warm and technological atmosphere . The steering wheel is wrapped in high-quality leather with a comfortable touch, and the center console is equipped with an electronic knob shift, making the operation more concise and convenient . In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 16-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, automatic air conditioning with rear air outlets, leather seats, and remote vehicle moving function, among other practical functions . The higher-spec models add DiPilot Level 2 intelligent driving assistance system, 360-degree panoramic camera, electric sunroof, 50W wireless phone charging, and ambient lights, further enhancing the comfort and safety of the vehicle .

Powertrain

The BYD Destroyer 05 is exclusively equipped with the DM-i super hybrid system, paired with an E-CVT continuously variable transmission, which is composed of BYD’s Xiaoyun 1.5L plug-in hybrid dedicated engine, EHS electric hybrid system and DM-i dedicated power-type blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, bringing five product advantages of fast, economical, quiet, smooth and green . The 1.5L engine has a maximum power of 81 kW and a peak torque of 135 Nm, with a thermal efficiency of up to 43.04% . The EHS electric hybrid system adopts a high-speed dual motor, with a maximum efficiency of up to 97.5% . The motor has two power tunings: the 55km pure electric range version is equipped with an EHS132 motor with a maximum power of 132 kW and a peak torque of 316 Nm, while the 120km pure electric range version is equipped with an EHS145 motor with a maximum power of 145 kW and a peak torque of 325 Nm . The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 7.9 seconds (55km version) and 7.3 seconds (120km version) respectively, ensuring a brisk and smooth driving experience . The vehicle is equipped with BYD blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of two capacities: 8.3 kWh and 18.3 kWh, offering NEDC-rated pure electric ranges of 55 km and 120 km respectively, with a comprehensive cruising range of up to 1,245 km . The 120km long-range version supports 17kW DC fast charging, taking approximately 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and the fuel consumption in the feed state is as low as 3.8 L/100km, effectively solving the anxiety of daily travel and long-distance trips and achieving a perfect balance between fuel economy and performance.
