The ID.4 X is a pure-electric midsize SUV developed by SAIC Volkswagen based on the MEB platform. Positioned as a “sensory tech” electric SUV, it made its debut in November 2020. It is equipped with a 150-kilowatt rear-wheel-drive motor and an 83.4-kilowatt-hour ternary lithium-ion battery, offering a CLTC range of 607 kilometers.

Exterior Design

The Volkswagen ID.4 X adopts a compact pure electric SUV body design with a closed front grille and LED headlight sets. It is equipped with through-type LED daytime running lights, illuminated brand logo and LED taillight assembly. The vehicle is fitted with hidden door handles. Available exterior body colors include Ice White, Deep Black Metallic, Sterling Silver, Night Blue and Mica Gray Metallic.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,612 mm in length, 1,852 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. The car is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, with optional 20-inch alloy wheels. Standard exterior configurations include automatic headlights and rear fog lamps.

Interior Design

The Volkswagen ID.4 X features a 5.3-inch full LCD digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen. The interior adopts fabric and leather upholstery materials, with optional interior color schemes including all-black and black-gray dual tone. Standard configurations include front, side and curtain airbags, front and rear parking sensors, panoramic camera system, and cruise control.
Higher-spec versions are equipped with L2-level intelligent driver-assistance systems, active braking and lane keeping assist. Additional practical configurations include multi-way power-adjustable front seats with heating functions, dual-zone automatic climate control and interior ambient lighting. The vehicle adopts a 5-seat layout with a 484-liter trunk space.

Powertrain

The Volkswagen ID.4 X offers single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor four-wheel-drive versions, matched with a single-speed electric transmission. The single-motor versions deliver a maximum power of 125 kW or 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 Nm. The dual-motor version delivers a system comprehensive maximum power of 230 kW and a peak torque of 472 Nm.
The vehicle is built on the MEB pure electric vehicle platform, equipped with 57.3 kWh and 83.4 kWh ternary lithium battery packs. The CLTC pure electric cruising range includes 425 km, 601 km and 607 km versions. The vehicle supports DC fast charging and AC slow charging. The vehicle adopts front MacPherson independent suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension.
