Exterior Design
The BYD Tang EV adopts the brand’s upgraded iconic “Loong Face” design language tailored for pure electric models, a signature style of BYD’s Dynasty Series flagship pure electric SUVs, which perfectly integrates traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern pure electric aesthetics, reflecting BYD’s strength in new energy technology and confidence in traditional culture. It features a grand and majestic front fascia with a closed horizontal chrome grille (exclusive to pure electric models) that replaces the fuel version’s air intake, inlaid with the iconic seal-script “Tang” logo, where the three-dimensional and powerful “dragon whisker” trim strips extend to the headlights, highlighting its noble and tough identity as a mid-size pure electric SUV. It is equipped with sharp integrated LED headlights inspired by Chinese “square pupil” culture, paired with unique dynamic daytime running lights, and the rear is equipped with a stylish through-type LED taillight with “Phoenix Feather” elements derived from traditional Chinese knot and bamboo weaving craftsmanship, creating extremely high recognition when lit. The rear is also fitted with a sporty high-mounted rear spoiler and a redesigned rear bumper with E-shaped black decorative panels and extended reflective strips, which echoes the front design and further highlights its tough and dynamic charm. The body is available in multiple color options: Snowfield White, Azure Blue, Titanium Gray, Ruby Red, and the 2024 Honor Edition adds a new Aurora Blue color with a unique pure texture, while a blackened sports kit is also available, catering to the aesthetic needs of different high-end family users. In addition, its side profile is decorated with smooth and powerful calligraphy-inspired waistlines, extending from the front headlights to the rear, matched with 21-inch low-drag wheels, blackened wheel arches, chrome trim strips and hidden door handles, creating a layered and refined visual effect; the floating roof design and AGS active air intake grille further optimize aerodynamic performance and add a sense of fashion.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. As a 5-door 6-seat or 7-seat mid-size pure electric SUV, it adopts a flexible “2+2+2” or “2+3+2” seating layout, which can freely adjust the seating and luggage space by folding 1 to 5 seats of the second and third rows, fully meeting the needs of daily commuting, family travel and long-distance self-driving. The rear seats feature a foldable design, which can expand the trunk space to a larger size after folding the third row, and the EV model also provides a 136L front trunk for storing small items, fully reflecting its practicality as a family flagship pure electric SUV. The overall space layout is reasonable, with sufficient headroom and legroom for all three rows of seats, and a nearly flat rear floor, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for all passengers, especially suitable for large-family travel.
Interior Design
The BYD Tang EV is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a standard 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating central touchscreen, which is equipped with the latest DiLink 100 intelligent cockpit system based on the D100 (6nm) chip, delivering a convenient and smooth visual and interactive experience. The system supports full-scenario intelligent voice interaction, 3D vehicle control and ONE ID account system, with high recognition accuracy and fast response, and built-in a large number of APP ecosystems to meet diverse user needs; it also supports OTA remote upgrade, remote vehicle control, mobile phone NFC and Bluetooth key unlocking functions, enhancing the convenience of use significantly. The interior design is luxurious and warm, with a large area of soft wrapping materials, and the high-end models adopt 3D bamboo and wood interior materials, while the instrument panel area combines leather and knitting craftsmanship, and the armrest box uses flocking craftsmanship to enhance the luxurious texture. Interior color schemes include luxurious black, beige and two-tone designs, creating a warm and technological atmosphere. The center console retains the physical buttons of commonly used functions, which are designed in line with ergonomics for easy operation; the top-equipped model is also equipped with a Dynaudio HiFi-level sound system with 12 speakers and 775W maximum output power, bringing a concert-like audio experience, as well as in-car KTV and in-car fragrance device. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 21-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, front and rear row through-type side air curtains, rear parking sensors, 360-degree panoramic camera, automatic air conditioning, 50W wireless phone charging, and 6kW VTOL external power output, among other practical functions. The higher-spec models (especially the 2024 Honor Edition) add DiPilot L2.5-level intelligent driving assistance system, W-HUD head-up display, DMS fatigue driving monitoring, front seat 10-point massage function, and DiSus-C intelligent electronic control active suspension system, further enhancing the comfort, safety and practicality of the vehicle.
Powertrain
The BYD Tang EV is a pure electric vehicle available in two drive forms: front-wheel drive (single motor) and four-wheel drive (dual motors), both paired with a single-speed electric transmission, built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0, creating an extreme experience of quietness, smoothness, high efficiency and strong power. The front-wheel drive version is equipped with a high-performance permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 180 kW and a peak torque of 350 Nm, ensuring a brisk and smooth driving experience suitable for daily commuting. The four-wheel drive version is equipped with dual motors (180 kW for the front and 200 kW for the rear), with a combined maximum power of 380 kW and a combined peak torque of 700 Nm, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of only 4.4 seconds, showing strong performance comparable to high-performance fuel vehicles. The vehicle is equipped with BYD blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of multiple capacities, including the 108.8kWh large-capacity battery pack (the largest in BYD’s entire model line), offering CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 600 km, 635 km and 730 km respectively, effectively solving the anxiety of long-distance travel. In fast-charging mode, it supports a maximum 170kW safe boost DC fast charging, taking approximately 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and charging for 10 minutes can increase the续航 by up to 173 km; AC normal charging is also supported. It is also equipped with the world’s first battery pack direct cooling and heating technology and a wide-temperature efficient heat pump air conditioner, which increases thermal efficiency by 20% and reduces air conditioning energy consumption by about 40% at low temperatures, further improving energy efficiency. In addition, the vehicle adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension, all standard with FSD variable damping suspension system, and the high-end models are equipped with DiSus-C intelligent electronic control active suspension system, which can adaptively adjust the suspension softness and hardness, bringing superior riding texture and excellent handling performance; the four-wheel drive version is also equipped with a super intelligent electric four-wheel drive system that can intelligently adjust the front and rear wheel power distribution ratio in an instant according to road conditions.
