The BMW i5 is BMW’s first all-electric 5 Series model, launched on May 24, 2023. The BMW i5 Long Wheelbase and BMW i5 M60 feature wheelbases of 3,105 mm and 2,995 mm, respectively. The domestically produced Long Wheelbase model will be equipped with a rear-mounted single electric motor, delivering a maximum power output of 210 kW and peak torque of 410 Nm, while the i5 M60 boasts a maximum power output of 442 kW and peak torque of 795 Nm.

Exterior Design

The BMW i5 adopts pure electric mid-size luxury sedan design language, equipped with a closed double-kidney front grille and adaptive LED headlight groups. The vehicle is fitted with LED taillight groups and aerodynamic rear bumper trim. It is available in multiple body color options, including Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral Silver, Arctic Grey and Phytonic Blue. The model supports 18-inch, 19-inch and 20-inch wheel configurations for different versions.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5106 mm in length, 1970 mm in width, and 1550 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3070 mm. The model adopts a 4-door 5-seater layout. The vehicle is fitted with electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and electric tailgate as standard.

Interior Design

The BMW i5 is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. Interior color schemes include Black, Coffee, Ivory White and Mocha, matched with leather and Veganza upholstery and aluminum alloy decorative trim. The vehicle supports multi-color ambient lighting and dual-zone automatic constant temperature air conditioning.
In terms of configurations, the standard model is equipped with front, side and curtain airbags, front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera, and constant-speed cruise control. It comes with keyless entry, one-key start and mobile phone interconnection functions. The high-spec version is fitted with a 360-degree panoramic camera system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and active braking system.

Powertrain

The BMW i5 adopts fifth-generation BMW eDrive electric system, providing single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive configurations with single-speed electric transmission. The low-power single-motor version delivers a maximum power of 200 kW and peak torque of 410 Nm. The high-power single-motor version outputs a maximum power of 240 kW and peak torque of 410 Nm. The dual-motor four-wheel drive version outputs a comprehensive maximum power of 380 kW. The electronically limited top speed of the vehicle is 190 km/h.
The vehicle is equipped with a ternary lithium battery pack. The CLTC-rated cruising range covers 651 km and 713 km for different versions. It supports DC fast charging function. The model supports energy recovery and OTA upgrade functions.
