The BYD Han L DM is a mid-to-large-size plug-in hybrid flagship sedan launched by BYD’s Dynasty Series, which officially hit the market in April 2025. Positioned above the Han DM, the vehicle measures 5,050 × 1,960 × 1,505 mm with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm. It features a closed-off grille design and a double-wishbone front suspension.

Exterior Design

The BYD Han L DM adopts the upgraded “Loong Face” design language exclusive to BYD’s Dynasty Series, which inherits the spiritual totem of the Chinese dragon and integrates more unique Chinese cultural symbols. Its front fascia features a closed design paired with sharp and sleek “Fangtong” – inspired headlights, which draw inspiration from Chinese culture to add vitality and recognition to the overall look. The distinctive three-dimensional dragon beard lines extend to the side of the vehicle, making the front face wider and more majestic, while the C-shaped air guide grooves on both sides of the front bumper enhance its sporty atmosphere. At the rear, the eye-catching through-type taillights extend the Chinese knot design, taking shapes from phoenix wings and traditional bamboo weaving craftsmanship, named “Feng Zhi Ling” (Phoenix Feathers) and “Zhu Zhi Yun” (Bamboo Rhythm) respectively, with a three-dimensional curved surface that complements the body lines perfectly. The vehicle is also equipped with a hidden rear spoiler and hidden door handles, creating a simple and high-end visual effect. The body is available in multiple classic color options, including Crystal White, Deep Sea Blue, and Dynasty Red, catering to different aesthetic needs.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,050 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm, providing a spacious and comfortable riding space for both front and rear passengers. The smooth coupe-style roof line stretches from the A-pillar to the rear, outlining a dynamic and elegant posture, while the L-shaped segmented treatment of the C-pillar forms a suspended roof visual effect, adding a sense of fashion and technology. The rear seats feature a flexible folding design, which not only improves the flexibility of seating and storage space but also meets the diverse needs of daily commuting and long-distance travel.

Interior Design

The BYD Han L DM features a minimalist and luxurious interior style with a symmetrical layout that balances practicality and aesthetics. It is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch adaptive rotating central touchscreen, and a W-HUD head-up display system, forming a three-screen interactive matrix that delivers an outstanding visual and operational experience. The interior design draws inspiration from the Chinese traditional architectural Wudian roof, integrating the concept of “harmony between man and nature” and adopting 3D bamboo and wood decorative panels to create an elegant visual effect and highlight the unique taste of Chinese design. Interior color schemes include Elegant Black, Warm Beige, and Luxury Brown, catering to personalized preferences for a high-end cockpit atmosphere.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 19-inch wheels, front and rear side airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, cruise control, and a panoramic sunroof, among other practical functions. The higher-spec flagship version adds DiPilot 300 advanced driver-assistance system with a laser radar and NVIDIA Orin X high-computing chip, as well as practical and luxurious features such as a Denon audio system, an independent compressor car refrigerator, a car fragrance system, and front seat heating/ventilation/massage functions. The whole vehicle is equipped with the DiLink 150 intelligent cockpit with a 4nm process chip, supporting full-vehicle intelligent voice interaction and 100% compatibility with the Android application ecosystem, making intelligent travel more convenient and safe.

Powertrain and Range

The BYD Han L DM is equipped with the fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, offering two power configurations: DM-i super hybrid and DM-p king hybrid, to meet different needs for economy and performance. It is powered by a 1.5T plug-in hybrid dedicated engine with a maximum thermal efficiency of 45.3%, a maximum power of 115 kW, and a maximum torque of 225 Nm. The DM-i model adopts a front-wheel-drive layout with a single electric motor, while the DM-p model is equipped with a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, with a total system power of 400 kW and a peak torque of 670 Nm. Both configurations are paired with an E-CVT continuously variable transmission, with an official top speed of 200 km/h; the DM-p model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, delivering strong performance.
The vehicle comes standard with a 29.4 kWh BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate battery pack from Fudi battery. The DM-i model offers a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 200 km, while the DM-p model has a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 180 km. In terms of comprehensive range, the full fuel and full electricity comprehensive range of the DM-i model exceeds 1,500 km, realizing worry-free commuting and long-distance travel. In fast-charging mode, it only takes about 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and it also supports a 6 kW external power output function, meeting the needs of outdoor camping and emergency power supply. In addition, the vehicle has a minimum fuel consumption of 2.6 L/100 km under WLTC working conditions when in low battery state, achieving excellent energy efficiency.
