Exterior Design
The Buick E5, as the first pure electric model of Buick based on the Ultium electric platform, inherits the brand’s PURE Design concept with more than 47 improvements and upgrades compared to the previous generation, featuring a robust and elegant mid-size SUV silhouette that emphasizes both luxury and practicality. It is equipped with popular split LED headlights with bright light sources, paired with a semi-closed high-gloss black grille, which cancels the previous large trapezoidal relief mask and fang-like trim, presenting a more minimalist and refined visual effect, while enhancing the recognition of the front face. The rear retains the classic continuous through-type taillights, matched with a small-sized spoiler and chrome trim, which enhances the sense of hierarchy and premium texture of the rear, and the upper-narrow and lower-wide body design makes the overall shape more solid and stable. The Avenir version is upgraded with exclusive luxury kits, including unique wheel designs and exclusive badging, further highlighting its high-end positioning. The body is available in multiple sophisticated color options, including Pearl White, Deep Gray, and Aurora Blue, catering to the personalized needs of family users and young consumers alike.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,892 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,684 mm in height, with a spacious wheelbase of 2,954 mm, belonging to the mid-size five-seat SUV category. Benefiting from the Ultium electric vehicle platform, it provides ample interior space for both front and rear passengers, creating a comfortable riding experience for the whole family. The overall body proportions are balanced, with smooth side lines, body-color wheel arches and black window trim, which strengthen the vehicle’s texture and sporty atmosphere, presenting an elegant and dynamic style that combines practicality and aesthetics.
Interior Design
The Buick E5 features a minimalist and luxurious interior design, adopting the VCS intelligent cockpit layout with a floating center console and a large number of soft materials covering the entire cabin, paired with delicate stitching and trim, creating a warm and high-end riding atmosphere. It is equipped with a 30-inch integrated curved 6K screen inclined to the driver’s seat, powered by a high-performance chip, which delivers a clear and smooth interactive experience, supports the latest iterative eConnect intelligent connectivity system, OTA upgrades, wireless CarPlay, and retains physical buttons for convenient operation by drivers and passengers. Interior color schemes include Pure White, Elegant Black, and the Avenir version’s exclusive premium color matching, matched with large-area soft leather and suede materials, highlighting the premium texture and comfort. The cabin is equipped with Buick’s library-level quiet technology, 5mm double-layer acoustic glass and full-dimensional acoustic cladding to create an extremely quiet environment, along with a full-view dome sunroof and multi-color ambient lights, bringing a bright and comfortable riding experience.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 18-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and cruise control, among other practical functions, and is also equipped with front seat electric adjustment and heating, steering wheel heating and other comfort configurations to meet daily use needs. The higher-spec Avenir version and premium models add 360° high-definition panoramic images, APA automatic parking assistance system, and eCruise intelligent assisted driving system, which can actively maintain lane centering at 0-80km/h and reduce driving fatigue. It also features multiple efficient storage spaces, a large-capacity trunk, and a dual-layer flow air conditioning system, while supporting external power supply function to meet the needs of outdoor camping and other scenarios. All models are equipped with Level 2 intelligent driving assistance functions to further enhance driving safety and comfort.
Powertrain
The Buick E5 is a pure electric vehicle built on the Ultium electric platform, equipped with the self-developed Ultium “eight-in-one” electric drive system with advanced technologies such as flat wire technology, self-adhesive iron core technology and oil-cooled design, which has high energy efficiency and stable output performance. The standard front-wheel drive version adopts a front-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous motor layout, with a maximum power of 180 kW and a peak torque of 330 Nm, providing strong and smooth acceleration performance, which is equivalent to the power level of a 2.0T high-power engine. The Avenir four-wheel drive version adopts a front permanent magnet and rear induction asynchronous dual-motor layout, with a combined peak torque of up to 465 Nm, an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds, delivering more exciting driving experience.
The vehicle is equipped with different capacity ternary lithium battery packs according to the configuration: the standard range version is equipped with a 65 kWh or 68.4 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 515 km or 545 km respectively; the long-range version is equipped with a 79.7 kWh battery pack, with a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 620 km, and the maximum pure electric range can reach 600 km for some models. It supports DC fast charging, taking about 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, meeting the needs of long-distance travel. It is also equipped with the BEV HEAT dual-heat source thermal management system with heat pump air conditioning technology, which can reasonably distribute energy according to battery and ambient temperature, optimizing winter range performance, and the battery pack is protected by multiple innovative thermal runaway protection measures such as nano-scale aerogel insulation walls to ensure safety and durability.
