Exterior Design
The Dongfeng Aeolus L8 adopts a new energy minimalist design language, positioning as a high-end compact plug-in hybrid SUV that integrates family comfort, intelligence and modern aesthetics. Its front fascia features a closed electric-sensing grille, which is sleek and atmospheric, paired with a split headlight design. The through-type daytime running lights adopt pixel dot light sources, capable of displaying personalized light patterns, while the LED matrix headlights inside are equipped with 168 independent light sources and support adaptive lighting functions, enhancing the vehicle’s visual recognition and practicality. The front bumper is designed with a trapezoidal air intake, which not only optimizes aerodynamic performance but also adds a sense of layering to the front face.
The side profile is round and full, with a through-type waistline extending from the front fender to the tail, paired with silver trim strips adorning the door edges, creating a dynamic visual effect. The roof slopes backward slightly, matching the 19-inch two-tone multi-spoke wheels, showing a sporty temperament. The vehicle is equipped with fully hidden door handles that meet the mandatory standards of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, supporting four-door electric release and internal mechanical handles for emergency use even when power is cut off. The rear design echoes the front face, with through-type taillights featuring pixel dot light sources, and a hidden exhaust layout, paired with a sporty roof spoiler that effectively reduces wind resistance. The body is available in six color options, meeting the diverse aesthetic needs of different users.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,762 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,677 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, providing ample space for the passenger compartment. The vehicle has a drag coefficient of 0.28, which helps improve energy efficiency. It is also equipped with double-layer laminated front windshield, front-row double-layer sound-insulating glass and Michelin new energy dedicated silent tires, effectively reducing noise and creating a quiet riding environment. The conventional trunk volume is 501 L, which can be further expanded to meet the needs of family travel and daily loading.
Interior Design
The Dongfeng Aeolus L8 adopts a new energy-style minimalist interior design, with a clean and neat overall layout. The interior is wrapped with 90% ultra-soft PVC materials, paired with through-type ambient lights, creating a warm and high-end riding atmosphere. It is equipped with an 8.88-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating central touchscreen, forming an intelligent interactive system. The vehicle is equipped with Tianyuan Intelligent Cabin, integrating Deepseek & Doubao dual AI large models, supporting four-zone voice recognition and continuous voice command recognition, bringing a convenient intelligent experience. It is also a strategic cooperative model with Alipay, enabling seamless payment for parking and charging, as well as in-vehicle coffee ordering.
The interior is available in three color schemes, catering to different personalized preferences. The whole vehicle is equipped with cloud-soft large sofas certified by China Automotive Research Institute’s “Seat Comfort Star”, using high-density foaming materials with a density 40% higher than the industry average, and 10-layer structural design to ensure comfort and support. The driver’s seat is equipped with 24 massage modes, three-level heating and ventilation functions, as well as an aviation-grade music headrest and one-key nap mode that can recline nearly 180 degrees. The rear seats support 260 mm forward and backward sliding and 16-level backrest adjustment, with a maximum angle of 125 degrees, and can be fully flattened to expand a 2.1-meter flat space.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with practical functions such as vehicle networking, Bluetooth phone, automatic headlights, automatic air conditioning, front dual airbags, rear parking sensors and 360-degree panoramic camera. It also has convenient configurations including multiple USB and Type-C interfaces, a 50W front-row wireless charging board, a 4.5L cooling and heating box, and a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade. The higher-spec version is equipped with a 15.6-inch 2.5K rear ceiling entertainment screen, aviation small table board, 19-speaker WANOS panoramic sound system, and L2-level intelligent driving assistance system, including 28 functions such as highway assistance, adaptive cruise and automatic emergency braking, further improving driving safety and convenience.
Powertrain
The Dongfeng Aeolus L8 is equipped with the Mahle electric hybrid system, with a 1.5T turbocharged engine as standard across the entire series, paired with a 4-speed DHT hybrid-specific transmission. The 1.5T engine has a thermal efficiency of up to 45.18%, with a maximum power of 113 kW, and the electric motor has a maximum power of 100 kW. The total system power reaches 265 kW and the total system torque is 615 N·m, delivering strong and smooth dynamic performance. The official top speed is 170 km/h, ensuring excellent driving experience in various scenarios.
The vehicle is equipped with two options of lithium iron phosphate battery packs with capacities of 18.1 kWh and 30.3 kWh, corresponding to CLTC pure electric cruising ranges of 112 km and 185 km respectively, and the comprehensive cruising range can reach more than 1400 km, realizing “electricity for urban use and hybrid for long-distance travel”. The fuel consumption under depleted power condition is as low as 5.29 L/100km, achieving a good balance between power and fuel economy. It supports 3C fast charging, and it takes about 18 minutes to charge from 20% to 80% in fast-charging mode. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a 6.6 kW external discharge function, which can meet the power needs of outdoor camping and mobile office. The chassis is equipped with front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension, providing three driving modes: sport, economy and comfort, to adapt to different driving needs.
