GWM Cannon is GWM Pickup’s premium pickup truck brand. It made its global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2019. Built on an all-new platform and manufactured at the Chongqing Yongchuan Smart Factory, it is positioned as a strategic model under the “passenger-oriented, global” strategy. The series is divided into three main categories: passenger, commercial, and off-road. In July 2023, the Commercial Cannon and Customized Passenger Cannon models were launched, equipped with 2.0T gasoline or diesel engines paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. Some models are equipped with hardcore off-road features such as intelligent four-wheel drive, three differential locks, and crawl mode, balancing power performance with comfort, and ushering in the era of China’s 3.0 multi-purpose passenger-oriented pickup trucks.

Exterior Design

The GWM Cannon adopts a pickup body structure, equipped with LED headlight assemblies and horizontal taillight groups. The vehicle is fitted with 18-inch and 19-inch wheel rims for different versions. The available exterior body colors include Pearl White, Steel Gray, Obsidian Black and Desert Gold.
In terms of dimensions, the standard version measures 5,416 mm in length, 1,947 mm in width, and 1,886 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,230 mm. It adopts a 4-door 5-seat layout. The vehicle is available with standard cargo box and long cargo box configurations.

Interior Design

The GWM Cannon is fitted with a 10.25-inch full LCD digital instrument panel and a 14.6-inch floating central control touch screen. The interior color options include full black and black-gray dual-tone themes. The vehicle is equipped with fabric or leather seats and a multi-function steering wheel for different configurations.
In terms of configurations, the standard model comes with front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera, cruise control, front and side airbags, and automatic air conditioning. Higher-spec models are equipped with Level 2 intelligent driving assistance system, 360-degree panoramic imaging system, transparent chassis and active braking.

Powertrain

The GWM Cannon is available in multiple powertrain versions. The 2.0T gasoline engine version matches an 8AT automatic transmission, with a maximum power of 140 kW and a peak torque of 360 Nm. The 2.0T diesel engine version matches an 8AT automatic transmission, with a maximum power of 120 kW and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The 2.4T diesel engine version matches a 9AT automatic transmission, with a maximum power of 135 kW and a peak torque of 480 Nm. Partial versions adopt a four-wheel drive system.
The Great Wall Pickup Hi4-T hybrid version is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine and an electric motor, paired with a 9HAT hybrid transmission. The comprehensive system power reaches 310 kW and the comprehensive system torque reaches 750 Nm. It is equipped with a 33.1 kWh battery pack, with an NEDC pure electric cruising range of 118 km.
