The NIO ES8 adopts a majestic and sophisticated design language that inherits the brand’s third-generation family-style aesthetics of “Design for Success”, combining large SUV practicality with high-end luxury, featuring a sleek Shark Nose front fascia with a closed grille that highlights its pure electric identity. It is equipped with iconic upgraded Double-Dash double-layer crystal diamond daytime running lights paired with intelligent high-definition projection headlights (HDPL) that have an industry-leading 50-square-meter projection area, supporting welcome light curtain function for a noble greeting experience, and stylish 2,264mm through-type light curtain taillights—the longest in the industry—that echo the front lights, forming a coherent and unified design language. The rear is equipped with a subtle sporty rear spoiler, which not only enhances the overall luxurious appeal but also optimizes aerodynamic performance, paired with hidden electric door handles, flush side windows and a streamlined large SUV silhouette to further reduce wind resistance, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.259Cd for a large SUV of over 5.2 meters in length. The vehicle comes standard with multi-spoke alloy wheels, while the higher-spec version or special editions are equipped with 22-inch alloy wheels, and the body is available in multiple color options, including exclusive Star Green and the special edition’s champagne gold decorative elements, as well as Cloud White, Deep Space Black, Dawn Gold and other trendy colors to meet diverse user preferences.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,280 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. Its well-proportioned large luxury SUV posture and iconic floating roof, combined with the 2.5-square-meter largest-in-class flat side windows, create a majestic and elegant appearance, perfectly balancing luxury and practicality. It adopts a 5-door layout with 6-seat (2+2+2) and 7-seat (2+2+3) options, providing flexible seating arrangements for family and business travel. The vehicle is equipped with a 230L practical front trunk, and the reasonable storage space design throughout the vehicle easily accommodates daily necessities, family luggage, business items and travel equipment, meeting the diverse needs of daily commuting, business trips and long-distance family travels. The long wheelbase also ensures ample legroom and headroom for passengers in all three rows, enhancing riding comfort to the greatest extent.
Interior Design
The NIO ES8 features a luxurious and comfortable wrap-around cockpit design, adhering to the “Second Living Room” design concept, equipped with a 10.2-inch HDR digital instrument cluster, an 18.8-inch W-HUD head-up display and a 15.6-inch AMOLED central touchscreen, forming an intelligent interactive design with the 21.4-inch mini-LED sky screen and dual Dolby Vision large screens that delivers a concise and high-tech visual experience. It operates smoothly supported by the NIO self-developed Shenji NX9031 chip, the new NOMI Mate 3.0 and the whole-vehicle global operating system, providing powerful computing power for intelligent interaction and driving assistance. Interior color schemes include multiple themes, including exclusive combinations for special editions, paired with large-area high-grade Nappa leather wrapping, natural wood decorative panels and exquisite metal trim, creating a luxurious, quiet and layered cockpit atmosphere that caters to high-end family and business users’ preferences. It is also equipped with a 1.7-square-meter world’s largest intelligent dimming privacy window with three-level independent adjustment, supporting four-zone independent control for a more comfortable and private riding experience.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, ergonomic high-end seats based on NIO’s self-developed seat platform, intelligent five-zone air conditioning, keyless entry and start, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera, among other practical functions. The higher-spec version adds a 360-degree panoramic camera, 16 million-color dynamic ambient light with “Streaming Light” AI ambient function, a 23-speaker 7.1.4-channel immersive audio system with 2230W power, an 8.8L intelligent on-board refrigerator with temperature adjustment range of -2 to 55℃, dual wireless charging areas, as well as high-level intelligent driving assistance systems including full-scene navigation-assisted driving (supported by high-precision sensors), supporting multiple complex driving scenarios and enhancing convenience and safety. It also has 20-way electric adjustable front seats and 12-way electric adjustable second-row seats, all with heating, ventilation and hot stone massage functions, providing a comfortable riding experience for all passengers.
Powertrain
The NIO ES8 is a pure electric large luxury SUV based on the NIO 900V full-domain architecture, equipped with a dual-motor four-wheel drive system composed of a 180kW front induction asynchronous motor and a 340kW rear permanent magnet synchronous motor. The comprehensive power output reaches 520 kW and the peak torque is 700 N·m, paired with a single-speed electric transmission, with smooth power output and an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.97 seconds, presenting outstanding sporty performance. It is equipped with high-performance brake calipers, ensuring linear braking feel and excellent braking performance, and has a maximum top speed of 220 km/h. It also features an AI end-to-end integrated control intelligent chassis, 41-degree front wheel steering angle and intelligent agile U-turn function, with a turning radius of only 5.7 meters for flexible control.
The vehicle is standardly equipped with a 102 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, corresponding to a CLTC pure electric range of 635 km, with optional battery packs to meet different range needs. It supports fast charging, slow charging and battery swapping functions, with efficient charging performance that can supplement a considerable range in a short time, and supports 3-minute automatic fast battery swapping, which is faster than refueling. It is equipped with an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension with a 90mm height adjustment range and a third-generation CDC dynamic suspension damping control system as standard, combined with 4D global comfort navigation, achieving excellent driving stability and comfort, and is also equipped with a 6kW VTOL maximum external discharge power, perfectly balancing power performance, energy efficiency and riding comfort.
