The BMW iX1, as the first compact luxury pure electric SAV in the BMW X family, inherits the brand’s classic SUV design genes while integrating exclusive elements for electric models, featuring a robust and dynamic compact SUV silhouette with a sturdy stance that highlights its luxurious, sporty and practical temperament. The front fascia is equipped with the iconic BMW sculpted crystal kidney grille with a closed design, which optimizes aerodynamic performance and signifies its pure electric identity, seamlessly integrated with sharp LED adaptive headlights that extend to the side of the vehicle, paired with eye-catching L-shaped LED daytime running lights, creating a bold and sophisticated visual impact. The rear end adopts striking L-shaped 3D three-dimensional LED taillights with a micro-sculpture effect, paired with a small-sized rear spoiler and a diffuser design that enhances its sporty attributes, while the hidden exhaust design (consistent with electric vehicle characteristics) further emphasizes its pure electric identity. The body is equipped with semi-hidden door handles to reduce wind resistance, and is available in a variety of premium color options, with two optional exterior packages to meet personalized needs: the X Design Package with a simple and elegant overall look, and the M Sport Package (the first time applied to compact luxury pure electric SAV models) with more aggressive air intake decorations and sporty body details for a more dynamic appearance.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,616 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width, and 1,641 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,802 mm, adopting a 5-door 5-seat layout and providing ample interior space for both front and rear passengers; the long-wheelbase version tailored for the Chinese market further optimizes rear legroom, creating a more comfortable riding experience. The body adopts an aerodynamic design that effectively reduces wind resistance, which not only improves driving stability but also enhances energy efficiency. The rear seats feature a flexible split-folding design, which increases flexibility for storage and seating, while the spacious trunk capacity meets the needs of daily commuting and short-distance travel, perfectly balancing practicality and luxury for compact SUV users.
Interior Design
The BMW iX1 boasts a modern and minimalist interior design, drawing inspiration from the design concept of the innovative BMW iX, focusing on luxury, comfort and intelligence, with a brand-new integrated driving cockpit and floating control panel to create a digital luxury interactive space that combines ergonomics and simplicity. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch floating central touchscreen integrated into the BMW Curved Display, delivering an outstanding visual experience with high screen clarity and smooth operation, and the display screen is tilted about 6 degrees toward the driver, interpreting BMW’s classic “driver-oriented” interior design concept. The cabin is adorned with premium materials, including Veganza high-grade synthetic leather with delicate texture, optional Alcantara splicing material, and exquisite trim pieces, elevating the overall luxury atmosphere; the M Sport Package is equipped with integrated M sport seats with backlit exclusive M brand logos, providing excellent wrapping and support. The innovative steering wheel features a sporty design, and the vehicle is equipped with BMW Digital Key Plus based on ultra-wideband technology, making the interaction between people and vehicles more emotional and convenient.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 18-inch aerodynamic wheels, driver and front passenger airbags, front side airbags, front and rear head airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, cruise control, and automatic air conditioning, among other practical and luxurious functions. The higher-spec models add Level 2 driver-assistance systems, active braking, a 360-degree panoramic camera system, premium surround sound system, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, further improving driving safety and convenience. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with the 9th-generation BMW operating system, supporting WeChat in-car version, Tencent Mini Scenes 2.0 and other localized digital applications, as well as intelligent voice interaction and online navigation with eRoute path planning function, realizing more emotional human-vehicle interaction.
Powertrain
The BMW iX1 is equipped with the fifth-generation BMW eDrive electric drive system, offering two powertrain configurations to meet different driving preferences, paired with a single-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive eDrive25L model is equipped with a front-mounted single electric motor, delivering a maximum power output of 150 kW (204 hp), ensuring strong and smooth power output throughout the driving process, with an official top speed that meets daily urban commuting needs. The all-wheel-drive xDrive30L model features dual electric motors with a combined maximum power of 230 kW (313 hp) and peak torque of 494 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, perfectly embodying BMW’s iconic driving pleasure even in the electric era.
The BMW iX1 comes standard with a 66.45 kWh ternary lithium battery pack (supplied by EVE Energy), offering CLTC-rated ranges of 510 km for the eDrive25L model and 450 km for the xDrive30L model, meeting the needs of daily commuting and short-distance travel, though the actual range may decrease by 10%-15% in winter. In fast-charging mode (maximum charging power compatible with mainstream fast-charging piles), it takes approximately 30-40 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, and it also supports AC charging for convenient daily use, compatible with 220V household charging. The vehicle also features BMW EfficientDynamics technologies to optimize energy consumption, ensuring a perfect balance between efficiency and performance, and the battery pack comes with a reliable warranty to add peace of mind for users.
