The Electra L7 is a smart luxury sedan launched by “Electra,” the premium new energy sub-brand of SAIC-GM Buick. Positioned in the 300,000-yuan price range for new energy mid-to-large-size sedans, it features a number of world-first smart technologies. The vehicle is built on the “Xiaoyao” super-integrated architecture, which took five years to develop and required an investment of 10 billion yuan. The ‘L’ in its name stands for “Luxury,” while the “7” represents its full-size sedan specifications.

Exterior Design

The Buick ELECTRA L7 adopts the brand’s new premium new energy design language under the Electra sub-brand, featuring a sleek and elegant fastback roofline, a semi-closed front fascia, and hidden door handles that enhance its aerodynamic performance and modern sense. It is equipped with Galaxy Starry Wing LED headlights composed of 152 LED lamp beads, which are bright and distinctive, while the continuous through-type taillights add a sense of hierarchy to the rear, with five light sources near the logo turning light blue when the driving assistance function is activated to indicate the working status. The rear is fitted with a subtle ducktail spoiler, further highlighting its sporty temperament, and the window frames are decorated with chrome trim to enhance the premium feel. The body is available in multiple sophisticated color options, including Crystal White, Deep Ocean Blue, and Metal Gray, catering to different personalized needs.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,032 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height, with a generous wheelbase of 3,000 mm, providing ample interior space for both front and rear passengers. The overall body proportions are balanced, with a long hood and short overhangs, presenting a classic grand tourer style that combines luxury and sportiness. The curb weight of the vehicle ranges from 2,105 kg to 2,140 kg depending on the trim level, ensuring stable driving performance.

Interior Design

The Buick ELECTRA L7 features a “Pure Floating Island” interior design language, with a minimalist and elegant floating leaf-shaped center console and a wrap-around layout connected by “Starry Sand” trim, creating a luxurious and comfortable cabin atmosphere. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central touchscreen arranged in a staggered manner, delivering a clear and intuitive visual experience, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775P smart cockpit chip with 72 TOPS super neural computing power, ensuring smooth interaction without lag. Interior color schemes include Ivory White, Coffee Brown, and Starry Black, matched with large-area leather covering and suede-like roof materials, highlighting the premium texture.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 19-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and cruise control, among other practical functions. The higher-spec version adds the Momenta Level 2+ full-scene advanced intelligent driving assistance system, equipped with a roof-mounted lidar and four ultrasonic radars in the front bumper, supporting highway navigation assistance, ramp entry and exit assistance, and automatic lane changing. It also features the world’s first dual 120° zero-gravity front seats with 4-way electric leg rests, a 27-speaker Buick Sound theater-level audio system, and a 22-decibel library-level quiet space, bringing a first-class comfortable experience.

Powertrain

The Buick ELECTRA L7 is an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) built on the Buick Xiaoyao architecture, equipped with a “Zhenlong” extended-range system consisting of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (serving as a generator) and electric motors. It adopts a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, with a 122 kW motor at the front and a 252 kW motor at the rear, delivering a combined maximum power comparable to a 3.0L V6 turbo engine, a peak torque of 680 Nm, an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.9 seconds, and a top speed of 200 km/h.
The vehicle comes standard with a 40.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 302 km, which is sufficient for daily commutes. With a full tank of fuel and a full charge, the combined range reaches an impressive 1,420 km, completely eliminating range anxiety for long trips. It supports 130 kW DC fast charging, taking only 18 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and also features a 6 kW V2L external power supply function for outdoor camping and other scenarios.
