The BYD Seal 07 DM-i is a midsize plug-in hybrid sedan under BYD’s Ocean Network. The model was first launched on August 8, 2024 (2025 model year); its mid-cycle refresh (2026 model year) was launched on September 15, 2025. The entire lineup is equipped with BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, offering two powertrain options—a 1.5L and a 1.5T—and comes standard with the DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system. It has a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.

Exterior Design

The BYD Seal 07 DM-i inherits the distinctive “Ocean Aesthetics” design language of BYD’s Ocean Network, integrating marine-inspired elements with a elegant and dynamic style, which is exclusive to a mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan and perfectly balances sportiness and family practicality. It features a low and aggressive sloping front end with a prominent “nose” design, paired with a borderless horizontal air intake grille that enhances visual impact significantly. The sharp “Shuttle” – style headlight groups on both sides have an aggressive shape with exquisite internal light source structure, and the exaggerated C-shaped air guide slots and trapezoidal lower grille on the front bumper further highlight the sporty temperament of the vehicle. From the side, the body has a smooth and sleek slip-back contour, with a clear and powerful waistline extending from the front fender to the rear taillight, highlighting the vehicle’s sense of layering and dynamic posture; the roof is equipped with a sporty spoiler, and the side skirt trim adds a touch of refinement while enhancing the overall sporty feel. At the rear, it is equipped with a stylish through-type taillight group, which is connected by ultra-thin linear light strips, with high recognition when lit, and the overall shape echoes the front face perfectly. The rear bumper is equipped with a large-area smoked black trim and a diffuser – like design, matching the roof spoiler, creating a strong sense of layering and showing a stable and dynamic posture. The rear of the vehicle is equipped with the “BYD” letter logo, enhancing brand recognition. The body is available in four fashionable color options: Atlantis Gray, Warm Tea, Dark Sky Black and Phantom Red, catering to the personalized needs of different users.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, which brings a super spacious interior space and comfortable riding experience, fully meeting the daily travel needs of families. As a 4-door 5-seat sedan, it is equipped with a 40/60 split-folding design for the rear seats, which greatly improves the flexibility of storage and seating; the luggage compartment volume is sufficient to meet daily storage needs, and when the rear seats are folded down, it can further expand the storage space, adapting to scenarios such as daily commuting, family outings and long-distance trips.

Interior Design

The BYD Seal 07 DM-i adopts an enclosed cockpit design with a simple and elegant interior tone, which retains the stretching and softness of Ocean Aesthetics while highlighting a strong sense of luxury and technology, perfectly matching its mid-size family sedan positioning. It is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating central touchscreen, forming a practical dual-screen combination that delivers a comfortable visual and technological experience, and the vehicle is equipped with the BYD DiLink intelligent network connection system with rich functions. The interior adopts high-quality materials, with the top-equipped model even using delicate suede materials, and the flying-wing – style center console is atmospheric and reasonable in layout. The crystal gear lever in the central control area adds a sense of high grade, and the area around the crystal gear lever retains physical buttons, including commonly used functions such as start, volume adjustment and air conditioning control, which improves the convenience of using high-frequency functions. The interior is equipped with ambient lights, and the front seats adopt comfortable wrapping designs, which not only bring a skin-friendly and comfortable touch but also provide good support during driving, enhancing the driving pleasure. It adopts a user-friendly design, including a multi-function steering wheel with integrated intelligent driving and multimedia control buttons, and a mobile phone wireless charging slot in front of the shift area, as well as USB Type A and USB Type C charging ports, meeting the charging needs of users; the storage space is also well-designed, with 24 storage compartments in the whole vehicle, and the storage tray in the central control area can be retracted backward, with two cup holders below.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 17-inch wheels, multiple airbags, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree panoramic camera, TPMS direct tire pressure monitoring system, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, full-scene digital key and a 6-speaker audio system, bringing a practical and comfortable driving experience. All models are equipped with the upgraded DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, which can achieve Level 2 intelligent auxiliary driving, providing functions such as high-speed navigation assistance and full-scene parking, making driving safer and more convenient; the top-equipped model is also equipped with city navigation assistance (CNOA) function, with stronger auxiliary driving capabilities. The higher-spec models add practical configurations such as Yunnian-C intelligent damping body control system, ventilated and heated front seats, automatic anti-glare rearview mirror, electric tailgate, HUD head-up display, steering wheel heating, ventilated and heated rear seats and a cold and warm on-board refrigerator, further enhancing the comfort and practicality of the vehicle, and meeting the diverse needs of family users.

Powertrain

The BYD Seal 07 DM-i is equipped with BYD’s fifth-generation DM plug-in hybrid technology, adopting a front-wheel drive layout, and consists of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine or a 1.5T turbocharged engine, an EHS electric hybrid system and a plug-in hybrid dedicated power-type blade lithium iron phosphate battery, integrating multiple driving modes to ensure smooth power output and excellent fuel economy. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine has a maximum thermal efficiency of up to 46%, and the 1.5T turbocharged engine provides stronger power performance; the 1.5L version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds, while the 1.5T version only takes 6.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, meeting the needs of different users for power. It is equipped with a plug-in hybrid dedicated power domain controller, which effectively improves power density and control efficiency. The vehicle is equipped with BYD’s blade lithium iron phosphate battery packs with two capacity options: 17.6 kWh and 29.46 kWh, offering CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 135 km and 230 km respectively, which can fully meet the needs of daily commuting; the NEDC 100km fuel consumption under feed-in power condition is as low as 2.9 L, and even up to 3.8 L in -30℃ environment, solving the problem of high fuel consumption of hybrid vehicles in winter. In terms of comprehensive performance, the vehicle has a combined range of up to 2,000 km when fully fueled and charged, completely eliminating range anxiety for long-distance travel. It is also equipped with a full-temperature heat pump system, ensuring the vehicle’s performance in all weather conditions; all models are equipped with AC and DC charging ports, with the top two models supporting a maximum charging power of 69 kW and the entry-level two models supporting a maximum charging power of 40 kW, and it takes about 25 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% in fast-charging mode. In addition, it supports VTOL mobile power station function, with a maximum external discharge power of 6 kW, meeting the needs of outdoor camping and other scenarios, and the three-electric system provides a lifetime warranty for the first owner (non-operational) to reduce users’ worries.
