Exterior Design
The BYD Song Max DM-i adopts the brand’s iconic “Dragon Face” design language, a signature style of BYD’s Dynasty Series, consistent with other high-end new energy models of the brand. It features a grand and elegant front fascia with a large-size horizontal chrome grille, where the delicate chrome trim strips extend to the headlights like dragon beards, highlighting its noble and distinctive identity. It is equipped with integrated matrix LED headlights with five floating lenses, paired with unique double L-shaped daytime running lights, and a stylish through-type LED taillight at the rear with horizontal chrome trim, creating extremely high recognition. The rear is equipped with a subtle rear spoiler and a black decorative diffuser, further enhancing its dynamic and refined appeal. The body is available in multiple color options: Crystal White, Azure Blue, Titanium Gray, and Ruby Red, catering to the aesthetic needs of different family users. In addition, it offers a regular roof version and a lift-up roof version, with the latter increasing the interior headroom and adding a sense of transparency.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,710 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. As a 5-door 6-seat or 7-seat compact MPV, it provides a spacious and flexible interior space, specially built for mainstream Chinese families. It offers two seating layouts: “2+2+2” and “2+3+2”, fully meeting the diverse needs of family travel and work scenarios. The rear seats feature a foldable design, which not only improves the flexibility of storage and seating but also expands the trunk space to meet daily use and long-distance travel needs, fully reflecting its practicality as a family MPV.
Interior Design
The BYD Song Max DM-i is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch or 15.6-inch rotatable floating central touchscreen (depending on the trim level), which is equipped with the latest DiLink 4.0 (4G) intelligent network connection system, delivering a convenient and outstanding visual and interactive experience. The system supports intelligent voice interaction, with high recognition accuracy and fast response, and built-in a large number of APP ecosystems to meet diverse user needs. Interior color schemes adopt a warm and comfortable Cocoa Brown eco-cockpit, with a large area of soft wrapping materials and three-dimensional ambient lights, creating a luxurious and warm atmosphere. The steering wheel is wrapped in high-quality leather with a comfortable touch, and the gear lever adopts a flat design, enhancing the interior refinement. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 17-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, automatic air conditioning, and other practical functions. The higher-spec models add DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, 360-degree panoramic camera, leather seats, and other convenient configurations, further enhancing the comfort and safety of the vehicle.
Powertrain
The BYD Song Max DM-i is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of BYD’s Xiaoyun 1.5L plug-in hybrid dedicated engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor, paired with an EHS electric hybrid system (equivalent to a CVT continuously variable transmission). The 1.5L engine has a maximum power of 81 kW and a peak torque of 135 Nm, with a thermal efficiency of up to 43.04%. The motor has two power tunings: the 51km pure electric range version has a maximum power of 132 kW and a peak torque of 316 Nm, while the 105km pure electric range version has a maximum power of 145 kW and a peak torque of 325 Nm, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds, ensuring a brisk and smooth driving experience. The vehicle is equipped with BYD blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of two capacities: 8.3 kWh and 18.3 kWh, offering CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 51 km and 105 km respectively, with a comprehensive cruising range of up to 1,090 km. The 105km version supports fast charging, taking approximately 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and the fuel consumption in the feed state is as low as 4.4 L/100km, effectively solving the anxiety of daily travel and long-distance trips and achieving a perfect balance between fuel economy and performance.
