The Song Pro DM-i is a compact plug-in hybrid SUV from BYD. The 2026 model features a high-performance Blade Battery designed specifically for plug-in hybrids. The standard version offers a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 133 kilometers, while the long-range version offers 220 kilometers. Equipped with fifth-generation DM technology, the vehicle has a combined range of 1,600 kilometers when both the battery and fuel tank are fully charged and filled, with a fuel consumption of 3.2 liters per 100 kilometers under NEDC conditions when running on gasoline.

Exterior Design

The BYD Song Pro DM-i adopts the brand’s iconic “Dragon Face” design language upgraded with new national tide aesthetics, a signature style of BYD’s Dynasty Series, consistent with other high-end new energy models of the brand. It features a dynamic and sophisticated front fascia with a large-size grille decorated with dotted chrome elements, where the sleek matte chrome trim strip runs through both headlight groups, like a dragon’s whisker, highlighting its distinctive new energy identity. It is equipped with sharp integrated LED dragon-eye headlights with dynamic welcome effects, paired with unique L-shaped daytime running lights, and a stylish through-type dot matrix LED taillight at the rear, creating extremely high recognition. The rear is equipped with a sporty high-mounted spoiler and a black protective plate, further enhancing its SUV’s tough and dynamic appeal. The body is available in multiple color options: Snowfield White, Xuanwu Black, Time Gray, and Ice Amber Green, catering to the aesthetic needs of different young and family users. In addition, its side profile is decorated with dynamic dragon-walking waistlines, extending from the front headlights to the rear, creating a vivid light and shadow effect with the blackened wheel arches and petal-shaped wheels.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,735 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,712 mm. As a 5-door 5-seat compact SUV, it provides a spacious and comfortable interior space, specially built for mainstream Chinese families and young users. The rear seats feature a 40/60 split-folding design, which not only improves the flexibility of storage and seating but also expands the trunk space from 407L to 1430L, meeting daily use and occasional travel needs, fully reflecting its practicality as a compact SUV. The overall space layout is reasonable, with sufficient headroom and legroom for both front and rear seats, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for all passengers.

Interior Design

The BYD Song Pro DM-i is equipped with an 8.8-inch embedded digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch, 12.8-inch or 15.6-inch rotatable floating central touchscreen (depending on the trim level), which is equipped with the latest DiLink 4.0 (4G) intelligent network connection system, delivering a convenient and outstanding visual and interactive experience. The system supports intelligent voice interaction with high recognition accuracy and fast response, and built-in a large number of APP ecosystems to meet diverse user needs. Interior color schemes adopt warm and comfortable amber brown or “Kirin Brown + Sky Gray” two-tone designs, with a large area of soft wrapping materials and 31-color ambient lights, creating a luxurious, warm and technological atmosphere. The steering wheel is wrapped in high-quality leather with a comfortable touch, and the high-end models are equipped with BYD-Heart crystal gear lever, enhancing the interior refinement. In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with 18-inch wheels, front and rear airbags, rear parking sensors, a 3D panoramic transparent image, automatic air conditioning, and other practical functions. The higher-spec models add DiPilot Level 2 intelligent driving assistance system, 360-degree panoramic camera, leather seats, 50W wireless phone charging, and other convenient configurations, further enhancing the comfort and safety of the vehicle.

Powertrain

The BYD Song Pro DM-i is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of BYD’s Xiaoyun 1.5L plug-in hybrid dedicated engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor, paired with the latest fifth-generation EHS electric hybrid system (equivalent to a CVT continuously variable transmission). The 1.5L engine has a maximum power of 81 kW and a peak torque of 135 Nm, with a thermal efficiency of up to 46.06%, the highest among mass-produced engines in the world. The motor has multiple power tunings: the 71km and 110km pure electric range versions have a maximum power of 145 kW and a peak torque of 325 Nm, while the 220km long-range version has better power performance, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of about 7.9 seconds, ensuring a brisk and smooth driving experience. The vehicle is equipped with BYD blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of multiple capacities, offering CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 71 km, 110 km and 220 km respectively, with a comprehensive cruising range of up to 1,600 km. The long-range version supports fast charging, taking approximately 34 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and the fuel consumption in the feed state is as low as 3.2 L/100km, effectively solving the anxiety of daily travel and long-distance trips and achieving a perfect balance between fuel economy and performance.
