Exterior Design
The Changan Hunter K50 adopts the brand’s unique “Hunting Dynamics” design language, inspired by the moment a natural hunter launches an attack, crafted by the team led by Chris Hamilton, the design director of Changan Kaicheng Global Design Center. It features a bold and aggressive design that integrates power and functionality, breaking the rigid impression of traditional pickup trucks as “work tools”. The front face adopts a shark-face shape with a borderless matrix grille, paired with 7-shaped LED daytime running lights and the exclusive “Hunter’s Eye” intelligent lighting system, which is the only domestic factory-installed with 4 roof lights (2 high-beam lights and 2 camping lights), covering a lighting range of up to 200 meters at night to meet all-scene outdoor lighting needs. The rear is equipped with a segmented tailgate, a rear tow bar and a full-size spare tire, complemented by blackened wheel arches and a roll cage, further enhancing its off-road attributes. The body is equipped with all-terrain AT off-road tires and fixed side steps, and is available in distinctive color options such as Olive Green, which highlights its tough and wild style, catering to the aesthetic needs of users who pursue outdoor exploration and off-road adventures.
In terms of dimensions, the Changan Hunter K50 offers two wheelbase versions: 3180 mm for the standard wheelbase and 3430 mm for the long wheelbase, with a cargo box volume of up to 1.6 m³ for the standard wheelbase version and a load capacity of 495 kg for the long wheelbase version. The vehicle has an approach angle of 29°, a departure angle of 26°, a ground clearance of 220 mm when unloaded, and a wading depth of 600 mm, which can easily cope with complex road conditions such as gravel, ice and muddy roads. It has an extreme loading capacity of 1.5 tons and an upgraded towing capacity of 2.5 tons, and the frame adopts a 2:5:2 variable cross-section structure design with a weight of 220 kg, whose reliability is 9% higher than that of the industry, ensuring stable loading and towing performance. The overall design perfectly balances off-road performance and practicality, making it suitable for both outdoor adventures and daily work scenarios.
Interior Design
The interior design of the Changan Hunter K50 subverts the crudeness of traditional pickup trucks, adopting a simple and technological cockpit layout, creating a comfortable and refined riding atmosphere. More than 80% of the interior is covered with soft materials, paired with silver brushed trim panels and the exclusive Heat Wave Orange interior color scheme, which adds a sense of vitality while enhancing the high-end texture of the cockpit. It is equipped with a dual-screen linkage composed of a 7.5-inch color LCD instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, paired with a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and through-type air outlets, delivering an outstanding visual and operational experience. The interior is also equipped with leather seats, which are comfortable and durable, and the overall layout is humanized, taking into account both driving comfort and operational convenience.
In terms of features, the standard model comes equipped with tire pressure monitoring, automatic air conditioning, mobile phone wireless charging, front seat heating, 4G Internet of Vehicles, voice recognition, Wi-Fi hotspots and mobile App remote vehicle control, among other practical functions. The higher-spec models are equipped with the L2-level intelligent driving assistance system, which integrates adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, active braking and other functions, and is optimized for long-distance cross-country and RV towing scenarios to improve driving safety. In addition, it is the first in the world to be equipped with Huawei HMS for CAR, including intelligent voice interaction (supporting more than 70 languages), Petal Maps navigation and extended application ecology, and will be upgraded with AI voice large models through OTA in the future, making the vehicle machine system more intelligent and easy to use. It also has practical configurations such as a 3.3kW cargo box discharge panel, which further expands the usage scenarios.
Powertrain
As the world’s first super extended-range digital intelligent pickup truck, the Changan Hunter K50 is equipped with a 2.0T Blue Whale extended-range engine and a dual-motor four-wheel drive system, forming a “sky-earth dual-engine” power layout, which achieves the value triangle of “powerful, fuel-efficient and electric”. The 2.0T extended-range engine has a maximum power of 140 kW, the generator has a peak power of 100 kW, and the dual motors have a combined maximum power of 200 kW and a peak torque of 470 N·m, with a wheel-end torque of up to 5000 N·m, delivering a brisk driving experience with a 0-100km/h acceleration of only 7.9 seconds and a start-up response time of 400 ms. It is equipped with a 31.18 kWh “Golden Bell Cover” lithium iron phosphate battery pack, providing an NEDC pure electric range of 131 km, with a cost as low as 0.07 yuan per kilometer for pure electric travel, and a comprehensive range of more than 1000 km, completely eliminating range anxiety. The extended-range system does not require urea addition, no self-cleaning, and is not afraid of freezing in winter, making it more convenient to use.
The Changan Hunter K50 is equipped with an industry-leading super external discharge function, which has been upgraded from 22kW to 30kW, with a maximum stored power of 227 kWh, capable of continuously outputting 22kW DC power and 3.3kW AC power, which can support two drone batteries to be charged simultaneously, and can also drive 15 tables of hot pot to be used continuously for 7 hours, meeting the electricity needs of camping, emergency rescue, power maintenance and other multi-scenarios. The battery pack adopts five-layer safety cage protection, combined with a non-load-bearing body and chassis armor, which can effectively prevent collision, scratch and water immersion corrosion, and has passed rigorous verification in extreme environments such as extreme cold, extreme heat, high altitude and high corrosion in more than 10 representative countries around the world. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a front double wishbone + rear five-link suspension, with a steering response of 20 milliseconds, and is equipped with three differential locks and ten driving modes, achieving OR2-level off-road capability, allowing even novices to easily conquer complex terrain. The first non-operational owner can enjoy a lifetime warranty for the three-electric system and the extended-range system, providing comprehensive after-sales protection.
