The Dongfeng eπ 008 adheres to the design philosophy of “Simplicity to Perfection, Extremity to Beauty” and inherits the brand’s iconic design language, positioning itself as a mid-to-large-sized family SUV that offers both 5-seat and 6-seat configurations, tailored for family travel, daily commuting and even business reception. It features a sleek and majestic front fascia with a closed grille, which not only highlights its new energy identity but also optimizes aerodynamic performance, paired with a three-dimensional bumper design to enhance the overall sense of hierarchy and stability. The integrated full LED headlights are the highlight of the front face, with sharp and sleek lines that extend horizontally to both sides, paired with distinctive LED daytime running lights, creating a bright and imposing visual effect, and equipped with multiple light language modes to add a sense of ritual to getting on and off the car. The side of the body adopts smooth and powerful lines, extending from the front fender to the tail, combined with hidden door handles and a suspended roof design, optimizing the integrity of the body lines and reducing wind resistance. Its excellent aerodynamic design has won it the certification of “Low Wind Noise Vehicle” from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center. The 19-inch or 20-inch multi-spoke sporty wheels, matched with stylish calipers, enhance the sporty temperament, while the tough wheel arches and raised side skirts highlight the SUV’s tough posture. The rear is equipped with a through-type LED taillight, which echoes the front headlights and shows a strong sense of three-dimensionality, and the hidden exhaust layout conforms to the simple and environmentally friendly design concept of new energy vehicles. The body is available in multiple fashionable color options including Starry Night Black, Glacier White, Aurora Blue and Deep Sea Blue, catering to the personalized aesthetic needs of family users and business users.
In terms of dimensions, the Dongfeng eπ 008 measures 5,002 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,025 mm. As a 5-door multi-seat SUV with optional 5-seat and 6-seat layouts, its 3,025 mm wheelbase ensures a spacious and comfortable interior space that meets the needs of family travel and business reception. The third-row knee space is sufficient, and the second-row seats can slide back and forth flexibly, further improving the comfort of passengers in each row. The vehicle has a practical trunk space, which can easily accommodate luggage, baby strollers and other items in the conventional state. The rear seats support flexible folding, and the expanded space can meet the needs of loading large items, providing strong practicality for travel and daily use. In addition, it is equipped with a high ground clearance, which has excellent passability and can easily cope with various complex road conditions.
Interior Design
The interior of the Dongfeng eπ 008 adopts a Chinese-style symmetrical design, integrating a tech-luxury style with home-style comfort, focusing on practicality and comfort to meet the needs of family travel. The center console and door panels are covered with a large area of soft plastic, suede and high-grade leather materials, matched with exquisite metal decorative strips, greatly enhancing the sense of grade and texture. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central touchscreen, paired with a three-spoke multifunctional leather steering wheel and electronic shift lever, with a smooth operation experience. The in-vehicle system is equipped with the new eπ OS 2.0, powered by a high-performance chip, integrated with intelligent connection functions, supporting voice control, face recognition, GPS navigation and multi-platform mobile phone connection, bringing a convenient and intelligent driving experience to users. The interior color schemes include all-black, black-beige dual-tone and other options, creating a warm and comfortable cockpit atmosphere. The seats are made of high-grade leather or skin-friendly imitation leather, with high-elastic sponge inside, providing excellent wrapping and comfort. Some models are equipped with seat ventilation, heating and massage functions, and the front and rear seats are designed to be ergonomic, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for long journeys. It is also equipped with a large-size panoramic sunroof, ambient light, and a high-quality audio system, further enhancing the sense of comfort and luxury.
In terms of features, the whole series of Dongfeng eπ 008 is standard with more than 20 practical and intelligent configurations, including tire pressure monitoring display, child seat interface, 360° panoramic image (transparent chassis), cruise control, hill-start assist, keyless entry, one-button start, and one-touch window lifting with anti-pinch function. It also has a wind purification system with parking fresh air and high-temperature bacteriostasis functions, paired with healthy and environmentally friendly materials, winning the certification of “Four-Dimensional Ultimate Odor Health” automobile from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center. The high-spec version is equipped with more intelligent and comfortable configurations, including high-speed NOA navigation-assisted driving, memory parking assist (LAPA), FAPA fusion parking, a 12-speaker high-quality audio system, 64-color ambient light, PM2.5 filtration and air purification system, and 50W wireless phone charging. It is also built with multiple intelligent sensors, forming a 360° all-round perception network to comprehensively improve driving safety and convenience.
Powertrain
The Dongfeng eπ 008 offers two powertrain combinations (pure electric and extended-range) to meet different consumer energy preferences and travel needs, built on the Dongfeng Quantum Architecture and equipped with Mach power technology. The pure electric version is equipped with a rear-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, with a maximum power output of 200 kW and a peak torque of 340 Nm, paired with a single-speed electric transmission, and the 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 9 seconds, with smooth and linear power output, suitable for daily commuting and family travel. It is equipped with an 82.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, with a CLTC pure electric cruising range of up to 636 km. The extended-range version is equipped with the industry’s first 1.5T extended-range dedicated engine with a thermal efficiency of up to 45.18%, with a maximum power of 108 kW and a peak torque of 210 Nm, paired with an electric motor, and the CLTC comprehensive cruising range can reach up to 1300 km, with a feed fuel consumption of only 4.7 L/100 km, achieving a perfect balance between power and fuel economy.
In terms of charging, the Dongfeng eπ 008 supports both fast charging and slow charging. The pure electric version can be charged from 30% to 80% in about 28 minutes in fast charging mode, while the extended-range version is upgraded to 3C fast charging, and it only takes 15 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. The slow charging time is about 8-12 hours depending on the battery capacity. The battery pack adopts liquid cooling temperature control technology and has passed multiple extreme safety tests, meeting the new national standard in advance, and the first owner can enjoy a long-term warranty, reducing the worry of subsequent use. The chassis is tuned by a professional team, adopting a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear aluminum alloy H-arm multi-link independent suspension, which can effectively filter road bumps and provide a stable and comfortable driving experience. It is also equipped with a vehicle dynamic control system, which can effectively stabilize the vehicle posture in emergency situations and improve driving safety. In addition, the pure electric version is equipped with a heat pump management system, which can reduce air conditioning energy consumption in low-temperature environments and reduce cruising range attenuation.
