Exterior Design
The Dongfeng Nano BOX adopts a fashionable and dynamic design style based on the “Chinese-style square-circle aesthetics”, positioning itself as an affordable pure electric small SUV tailored for urban commuters, young users and budget-conscious families, ideal for daily commuting, short-distance travel and daily errands. Born on the Nissan-Renault Alliance CMF-A platform, it can be regarded as an upgraded version of the Dongfeng Nano EX1, with a comprehensively upgraded design and configuration. It features a compact and layered front fascia with a closed grille treated with high-gloss injection molding piano paint, paired with a split-type headlight design that highlights its new energy identity and creates a vivid and lovely visual effect. The upper LED daytime running lights are connected to the upper grille, while the irregular lower headlight groups are surrounded by golden decorative strips, adding a touch of vitality. The charging port is cleverly arranged in the center of the front face, which can be opened by a buckle inside the car, realizing a perfect combination of functionality and aesthetics. The side of the body adopts smooth and powerful lines, with a front-low and rear-high posture that shows a dynamic momentum, matched with blackened wheel arches, black exterior rearview mirrors and black door window trim strips, creating a sense of sportiness. It is equipped with 14-inch Linglong tires with specifications of 165/70 R14, and some high-spec models are equipped with two-color contrasting roof luggage racks to further enhance practicality and personality. The rear of the vehicle is round and full, with oval LED taillights that echo the front design, and the rear emblem hides a reversing image camera, which is practical and delicate. The rear bumper is equipped with a practical rear wiper and a metal guard plate, increasing the sense of thickness. The body is available in four fashionable national tide color options, including Black Coffee Energy Cabin, Protein Vitality Cabin, Green Lotus Freedom Cabin and Cherry Pink Trend Cabin, catering to the personalized aesthetic needs of young consumers.
In terms of dimensions, the Dongfeng Nano BOX measures 3,732 mm in length, 1,579 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,423 mm, consistent with the Dongfeng Nano EX1. As a 5-door 4-seat small SUV, its compact body size makes it easy to park in urban narrow spaces, while the 2,423 mm wheelbase ensures a practical interior space that meets the needs of daily use. For passengers of medium build, the front and rear seats can provide basic riding comfort without obvious oppression. The vehicle has a minimum ground clearance of 150 mm, which can easily cope with common urban potholes and road edges, ensuring good passability in daily use. The conventional trunk volume is 300L, which can easily accommodate daily necessities and shopping bags, and the rear seats can be fully folded to expand the loading space to 1,107L, which can meet the needs of carrying large items, providing strong practicality for travel and daily use.
Interior Design
The interior of the Dongfeng Nano BOX adopts a fashionable and practical design style, focusing on functionality and texture while controlling costs reasonably. The center console and door panels are mainly made of hard plastic materials, but the surface is treated with fine lines, which effectively relieves the sense of cheapness and enhances the overall texture. It adopts a suspended control panel design, integrating a 7-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a 10-inch floating high-definition touchscreen, forming a dual-screen combination that adds a strong sense of technology. The 7-inch full LCD instrument cluster is blackened and spray-treated to reduce night reflection, clearly displaying key information such as vehicle speed, power and mileage. The 10-inch central touchscreen supports Bluetooth connection and reversing image functions, which are practical and easy to operate. The central control area is equipped with a knob-type shift mechanism, surrounded by a piano paint panel, which greatly enhances the sense of grade. The three-spoke steering wheel is made of plastic material, which is moderate in size and comfortable to hold, and the overall shape is dynamic. The seats adopt a mixed design of leather and fabric or imitation leather material, with a collision color design and embroidery craftsmanship, which has excellent wrapping and comfort. The overall interior layout is concise and clear, with a horizontal decorative strip connecting the circular air outlets on both sides, creating a more spacious visual sense. There are reasonable storage spaces around the cockpit, including a convenient mobile phone holder on the center console, which is convenient for users to place small items such as mobile phones and water cups.
In terms of features, the Dongfeng Nano BOX focuses on practical and safe configurations to meet daily use needs. The whole series is standard with basic safety configurations including main and co-pilot safety airbags, child seat interface, child door lock, ABS anti-lock braking system and EBD electronic brake force distribution system, ensuring driving safety. It is also standard with practical configurations such as rear parking radar, energy recovery system, manual air conditioning, electric windows and electric exterior rearview mirrors. The high-spec advanced version is additionally equipped with 10-inch central touchscreen, Bluetooth, vehicle-mounted phone, mobile phone interconnection/mapping, voice recognition control, vehicle networking and rear wiper, further enhancing convenience. In addition, it supports mobile phone APP remote control, which can realize remote door unlocking, remote air conditioning control, remote car search, charging management and vehicle condition query, bringing a more convenient driving experience to users.
Powertrain
The Dongfeng Nano BOX is a pure electric vehicle focusing on urban commuting, equipped with a front-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor as standard for the whole series, with a maximum power output of 33 kW (45 horsepower) and a peak torque of 125 Nm, paired with a single-speed electric transmission. The power output is smooth and linear, which is very suitable for urban driving scenarios such as starting at traffic lights and following cars. The official top speed can reach 100 km/h, which can meet the needs of urban roads and ordinary expressways. The power performance is sufficient for daily commuting, but the acceleration performance will slow down when the speed exceeds 80 km/h. The vehicle provides three battery and endurance combinations to meet different consumer needs: it is equipped with 15.974 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and 27.2 kWh, 28.9 kWh ternary lithium battery packs respectively, corresponding to CLTC pure electric cruising ranges of 201 km, 331 km and 351 km, which can fully meet the needs of daily urban commuting and short-distance travel, and even medium-distance travel.
In terms of charging, except for the entry-level model, all other models of the Dongfeng Nano BOX support both fast charging and slow charging. In fast charging mode, it only takes about 0.5 hours (30 minutes) to charge from 30% to 80%, which is convenient for emergency energy supplement. The slow charging time of the whole series is about 3-4 hours, which can be completed by using a home charging pile or a public slow charging pile, suitable for charging at night or during rest. The battery pack adopts a four-layer ten-fold matrix protection design, which meets EU standards and has passed relevant safety tests to ensure charging and use safety. The chassis adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear trailing arm torsion beam non-independent suspension, which is tuned to be more comfortable, effectively filtering road bumps and providing a stable driving experience. It is also equipped with ECO and default driving modes. The ECO mode will automatically activate the strong energy recovery function, while the default mode is more suitable for daily driving. The vehicle is small in size and light in weight, with flexible steering, easy to turn and park in urban narrow roads, and low driving difficulty, which is very suitable for novice drivers and urban commuters.
